proper area? system fix

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am posting here because I haven’t been able to find a better spot. My home laptop is currently infested by system fix. I have tried the recommended steps from the FAQ multiple times and while MBAM does find and remove some files, it doesn’t change the results. I get numerous errors from mbam, depending on where I am in the process. I was wondering if the current version is known to remove the most recent version of system fix? I have looked at the forums and the bornslippy fellow has posted quite a few bits about it, which makes me think this might be new?

I had MBAM installed previously but hadn’t updated in quite a while, so I tried that first. But when I try to update it gives me a message about not being able to create a file (2,0) .

So I then managed to get firefox to open and download the most current version I could find…the install process gets about 5 or 10% into it and then gives me the message “runtime error 53 file not found mbam.net” I restarted, used rkill and thought I was using the random installer (even though the random and the regular have the same file name) only to get the same result at the same point in the install process.

I will gather the logs and such when I get home to that system, so that folks can potentially see the problem, but I don’t know which forum thread to post them to? I did a search and the engine didn’t like it because fix is less than 4 characters…tried it with quotes and got to the threads with people posting their scan results?

Thanks for the help!

Hello Gunfighter and Welcome to Malwarebytes.

Unfortunately there are few infections these days that don't seem to reach out and bring in other infections as well.

We provide the different "How To" articles for those users that are a bit more advanced and might be able to fix it on their own but many times it can simply just be too difficult without specific directions from someone that understands it better.

We don't really go into analysis and removal advice here in this forum so please follow the directions below and someone will assist you in cleaning up your system.

Here are the steps needed to get your computer cleaned....

Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process:

Don't use any temporary file cleaners unless requested - this can cause data loss and make recovery difficult

You have 3 Options that you can choose from as listed below:

  • Option 1 —— Free Expert advice in the Malware Removal Forum

NOTE:

Please do not post back to (bump) your topic within the first 48 hours.

Replying to your own posts changes the post count and helpers are looking for topics with zero replies.
