  1. hello im currently using firefox as my browser even though it is a resource hog but it doesnt effect my computer anyhow. ive seen an ad for a browser called slim browser. is it anygood?? regards.
  2. hello, yes ive been using comodo for over a year now and never been infected with it. But im not saying that other products are less good.thats just a personal opinion. online armor is another great program. its down to the user and what they are happy with. comodo has never let me down yet so i shall stick with it. kind regards.
  3. hi norton products are very stubborn to remove. norton does provide a removal tool which i found ineffective. i would suggest using programs like PCdecrapifier or slim computer to totally remove the norton AV. i used to have a vista 32-bit machine and it took me months to remove norton internet security 2009 totally. regards.
  4. hello. avira and avast are fine free anti-virus programs. As is MSE. unless you actually go to some malware producing sites and "test" the AV you really cannot tell how effective an AV is. there does seem to be this eternal bickering as to which is better and my answer would be they are only as effective as the user behind the keyboard. i see several apparent "tests" being performed with ten or more malicious links , but how many users will actually come across ten links in a row? I think its just paranoia and mis-trust that creates a sense of not being fully protected. just a case of being happy with what AV you do have and trusting in the software. many regards.
  5. hello, well ive read on several forums that it is crucial to clean the registry otherwise it becomes bloated and affects system stability.personally i dont use them. but i think the major problem is continually installing and un-installing software. why cant people just install what they really need and leave it at that instead of installing a load of crap and then un-installing again. it doesnt do the computer any favours at all. regards.
  6. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST BROWSER IN THE WORLD.!!
  7. hello, yes the program seems to be just fine.it has some handy utilities within it and i downloaded after watching a you-tube demonstration from an IT engineer here in the UK. however he didnt advocate the use of this or any other registry cleaner. Ive used ccleaner for several months and never had a problem with it. these registry cleaners always find several hundred entries to be deleted which i find a bit dubious. ive never ever seen a system become faster by using them.defragmenting the registry may help slightly. many thanks for the replies on this its much appreciated. bye for now.
  8. hi i must apologise for double posting.i lose my train of thought sometimes.must be with getting older lol. and yes i have done a search on google but dont seem to find any actual reviews of the program in depth. i just thought that somebody on the forum may have personal experience of the program. im not a true believer in cleaning the registry, defragmenting yes but not cleaning. i fell for this about six months ago and stopped windows from booting. i only use ccleaner.and it works a treat. many thanks.
  9. hi. ive recently installed a utilities program by the name of tweak now powerpack 2010. ive done some research on the program and it appears to be ok. thing is it started an item called autorun cd. could anybody tell me what this is and if its ok? many thanks.
  10. hello. im just wondering if anybody has heard of a program called tweaknow powerpack 2010? its a utilities product which seems to be highly recommended. any points of view on this product please. many thanks.
  11. hello temerc, thank you very much for your assistance. bye.
  12. hi noknojohn. thank you very much for the tips. much appreciated.
  13. hi thanks for the replies. ive heard conflicting reports about the ram usage of thunderbird and that concerns me. i really like the look of the product and im itching to download and install. im a firefox user and i like mozilla products. i say its the ram usage thats putting me off or is this just a myth? thanks again. bye.
  14. hello. im just wondering if thers any software available that can identify ip addresses? i see a few ip addresses in my firewall log and would like to know what they are. any help would be very appreciated. thanks. bye for now.
  15. hi. yes ive been using MBAM free version for nearly a year now and i decided to purchase my license today.i received my id and key through e-mail. my question is does this license last for a year or is it a lifetime one? reason i ask is because one comment in this thread mentions a one year and another says its for life. which is it please? many thanks.
  16. hi. could anybody tell me anything about mozilla thunderbird please. i dont know a lot about this program but it is some form of e-mail client service. im considering using it but im not sure exactly what it is and what it does. many thanks. bye for now.
  17. hello, is this safe to use now or should i wait until final release? thanks.
  18. hi is force shutdown a safe program to use. i dont want the hassle of having to use the power button to get out of non=responding programs. many thanks.
  19. this is a rogue program from what i can gather. look closely at the graphics and it is using a similar icon from spycheck. there are spelling issues as well. looks rogueish in my opinion.
  20. hi. i say if the anti-virus you are using protects you then stay with it. testing with 6000 trojans is ridiculous TBH. it doesnt prove anything and most users are not going to come across them. if the user is irresponsible enough to go to shady websites and get infected then thats their fault not the anti-virus. its just a case of having faith in what you have installed and surfing safely.
  21. hi.. spycheck anti-spyware was interesting as it didnt behave like most rogues.it didnt download malware with it. it also doesnt install in program files it install in my documents...very sly i thought. it tried to get you to believe that there were shadow processess on your system which went by the name of legitimate processes. then it would try to remove them rendering your machine useless...that was the real threat.
  22. hi. yes i agree the internet was well under way long before berners lee came along but it would be vastly different without it. the web is merely just an application placed upon the connected networks. i believe the original conceptual idea was called the ARPANET. many thanks ron for your insight.
  23. hi firefox thanks for that. so just to clarify. what exactly am i backing up when i choose to just back up the c-drive.? macrium reflect gives me an option to back-up my c-drive and/or system. just say for arguments sake that windows will not boot-up anymore.is backing up the c-drive enough to re-install or do i need to back-up system also? many thanks.
