  1. I ran Norton before I started using MB. I thought I uninstalled it. I have Revo uninstall if I find anything left. I'll look.

When you say "cleaning up" is there anything in particular? And do you see any reason MB didn't update? This has never happened before and again the KB5014668 failure was my first Win 11 failure. I'm wondering if they are related?

Ok. This is really weird. I just checked my wife's PC which is running Win 10 and hasn't had an update since the last cumulative on June 15. I checked MB updates for her and got the same error message?????

The only common thread would be the router and Cox, our internet provider. I haven't made any changes to the router in a while. Any ideas now?

  2. For the first time ever, a MB update failed to install for me. Error that one or more components didn't install correctly. This is 4.5.10.200 component package 1.0.1709.

This is very disconcerting as last week Win 11 update package KB5014668 wouldn't install for me and for a lot of others. Some blamed MB and most had to do an in place Win 11 repair to fix it. I was afraid that trying all the things some of their advisors recommended or the update itself broke my ability to do any future updates. This may just be a coincidence but is it?

Thanks for any ideas on this.

  3. Yes, it is fully compliant. (i7 9700k, UEFI, 32G Ram, Secure boot and TPM) I upgrade last November and I haven't any problems updating or anything else until now. In fact I've been extremely pleased with the way it's been running.

Here is the one-drive link to the zipped CBS logs if you want to take a look at them and see if you think MB is doing something it shouldn't. I will wait until the next Microsoft update and see what happens.

  4. This isn't a tech. Just a responder in the Microsoft Forum. I also have never had a failure to install any Windows updates with MB installed and active. This is the first time I've had this type of problem. From the CBS logs he just said he saw that MB "access denied" for a registry change. I can put the zip file here if that would help. Another user with the same problem posted after I posted here that he did turn off MB and the problem persisted. I can provide a link to my posting on that forum.

I spent over 4 hours this weekend working on this. Everything from replacing the softwaredistribution folder with a Macrium image from a day before the install to running DISM, SFC, windows troubleshooter and finally doing a repair install as recommended by the Microsoft guru who was working with me initially. After I did the repair and started to do the updates that were shown to be due, the .NET updates and a few others installed correctly but when it got to the cumulative update, I think from the 14th, it errored and wouldn't install it. Again, this was after a repair install. I rolled back the install and am currently sitting where I was when I first had the problem. Everything is working fine (except for windows updates) but it does appear something is broken somewhere and I'm not the only one who has experienced this. I paused updates until a week after the July update day. The security intelligence updates are coming in fine. I don't have plans now to do the update but am concerned I'll have a problem on July 14 with the new ones.

I can turn off MB and try again later. I really didn't think this forum was the place that might solve my problem, unless it was caused by MB. But if anyone can help, all is welcome. As a side note, I've been getting an "access denied" message on Edge for a couple of sites I tried to go to this past week. One was Lufthansa reservations. I used Chrome and connected to it immediately. I am running the MB browser extension on Edge.

Thanks for any help. If you need any files from me, just let me know.

  5. Long story short. I had Windows 11 update KB 5014668 fail to install and a tech looking at the CBS logs noticed MB showed an "access denied" to a registry entry during install. He wants me to uninstall MB using the MB tool and retry the update. I asked about just turning it off. He said as long as nothing from MB loads at boot up that should be okay. Will just turning it off and rebooting do that? Can it be done or do I need to uninstall? If I do uninstall, what's the best way to go about it and reinstalling it later.

    Thanks

  6. Support contacted me today. Seems the problem is with the "New Experience" display. They had me switch back to the old version and everything there is working fine. You do that in your account settings by toggling off "new experience" and relogging in. They are working to fix the problem with the New Experience. I'm okay with this and maybe if someone else has this problem you can forward this info to them.

  7. I have the exact same problem. I activated 3 PC's with a new subscription key and my account shows the same thing. No key is found although it does show 3/3 PC's using the new subscription. I submitted a ticket on Saturday also and am still waiting. I'm not in a hurry since everything seems to be working. I'm sure they'll get back to me (and you) shortly. If two of us had the same problem, I'm sure others who don't use this forum have experienced also. Hang in there and give them some time.

  8. OK. Thanks. I didn't have this problem last year. I was able to update all three PC's in my account. Again, the biggest problem seems to be very outdated "Help" instructions. When I first wanted to change the subscription key for the PC's in my account, I tried to follow the "help" page instructions but again, their directions didn't match what was available in my accounts. I'll forward that message to support also.

  9. I just renewed my annual subscription (Premium) with a key I purchased at Newegg. I registered my new key in my account and was able to update my 3 PC's. I had to activate each in the Malwarebyte app and hitting "change" under account details. When I look at my subscriptions in My Account I see the new subscription with it saying 3/3 devices used and the new expiration date. But when I click on that block (active), it shows my last year's expired subscription key. Where is my new subscription key with the current PC's being used? The problem with following the "help" pages is the directions they give do not match what is showing in my account. They say to click on entries that do not exist. That really is the biggest problem. Help seems to give instructions for things that aren't there. It appears the my account page was updated but not the instructions in help. Thanks for any help with this.

  10. OK. Thanks again for looking this over for me. Again, I'm not having any problems with any blocking on the Microsoft Store at this time so whatever happened must have been a one day glitch. If it occurs again I know what file I need to send and how.  Unless you find something, I'll consider this closed.

  11. I entered the Microsoft store to check some things on my account. I was already signed in. When I tried to open the Security block to update, Malwarebytes Brower Guard blocked it as a malicious site. It did the same when I tried to update my password. It also blocked when I clicked on Manage Devices.

I am using Edge as my Browser. I can only assume these were false positives, but for this to happen in the Microsoft store?????????
