  1. This site is on a list at x-conspywaredestroyer.com?
  2. Not at all over the top Mona. I would suggest you add WinPatrol by BillPStudios RogueRemover hpHosts .
  3. Hi Mona and welcome to Malwarebytes. Yes you need an antiviurus program. Since you already have Spywareblaster installed, there shouldn't be an issue. The install is what nosirrah is saying was/is attacked.
  4. I use Avira, I don't begrudge them one attempt to get me to buy the program at update time. B) Avast is good too. I have used both, but do think Avira has the edge on adding the newest stuff, from what I see in a forum where the vendor is present. AVG hasn't been the best for awhile but was still OK and the spy/add ware remover was good. I don't recommend either anymore.
  5. You can direct upload files here I don't think any email will allow .exe file extensions.
  6. I didn't know this Bruce, thanks for pointing it out. There are a couple of other sites where users are not sure what to think now and this is a good thing to know. It's really too bad, once AVG was a great program, one of the only free reliable ones out there and it took a dive in a hurry.

  8. Hi Garret and welcome to Malwarebytes. If you have Symantec installed I am fairly sure that is what it is. If you don't have Symantec, I suggest you head over to http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showforum=7 read the topic Pre-HiJack This! instructions and follow them.
  9. I have not and will not be installing AVG anything. This is a new option after the outrage of customers over the forced install.
  10. Yes you have been told twice now. and here There is no need to use all caps or an adware program to get what you want. It doesn't seem to be hurting anything, is exactly how things do get hurt.
  11. Ok it makes sense now. Having the hosts file locked most likely would affect RR immunize. Glad you got it sorted.
  12. From the name alone it looks like MBAM is just doing it's job. ad = adware, hotbar is a key term is lots of malware, I would have to see exactly what the program is but I'm positive you can get one that isn't flagged. What browser do you use?

Stick with your helper at the original forum and nosirrah will ask if he needs a log.
  14. B) haha yup sure is. LOL However the rest of the stuff applies. My mistake for not reading carefully.
  15. Hi drstarbyte and welcome to Malwarebytes. I can't answer the purchase question but I can suggest you get help in our free forum to get rid of the rest of your infection. http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2936 follow the instructions there and let one of our excellent assistants help you clean up the machine for you. I'll be sure to point this out to RubbeR DuckY and he can get back to you on how to purchase.
  16. Hi Volvogirl and welcome to Malwarebytes. First what is it you want to ignore? MBAM is fairly good at not flagging anything period unless it is actually malware. Second I think it's a matter of right click and choose add to ignore list. I've never actually had the occasion to use the feature. My concern is your wanting to ignore something you shouldn't. B)
  17. Hi Beversoll and welcome to Malwarebytes. No worries about bumping the topic. We don't have a list of these programs but I'm sure if you did a Google search for them you would come up with several. Just be sure they are reputable programs before you invest any cash or use.
  18. Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes. The most glaring thing I see is your running SP1, get Windows updates ASAP. Current Service Pack is 3. Without those updates no amount of immunization is going to do much. Second, Spybot is a rogue application if that's actually what your using. If your using Spybot Search and Destroy, that is a good program, however it has no effect on how RogueRemover works. My guess you are infected and the infection is stopping RR from immunizing. I seriously recommend you follow the instructions here http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2936 before installing the latest service pack in updates. Infections and SP2 didn't mix at all and this latest Service Pack has it rolled in with other newer fixes.

  21. Good choice of FW for sure. Take care. Since this issue is resolved I will close the thread to prevent others from posting into it. If you need assistance please start your own topic and someone will be happy to assist you. The fixes and advice in this thread are for this machine only. Do not apply to your machine. Please start a thread of your own and someone will be happy to help you.
  22. Turn off the Windows firewall once you have the other one installed. You never want to run two firewalls or two active anti virus programs. Your welcome, hope you never have trouble again but if you do we are here for you.
