Sure thing, happy to give you a refund immediately. Please send me your reference number or your e-mail.

If you send me a message with where you got the key, i.e. you got it from one of us, or you bought it from a website, we can issue a new key and fix all that up for you .

Hi everyone, please let me take the opportunity to clear everything up.
When I started Malwarebytes, I absolutely had no idea how successful we would be today. I am extremely grateful for all of the support from everyone and how fast we've grown. That being said, I picked a very insecure license key algorithm and as such, generating a pirated key was, and is, very simple.
The problem with pirated keys it that they may collide with a legitimate key just by the sheer numbers. For example, Larry may generate a pirated key that matches the exact key that I already bought. Yes, this is silly, and yes, this is literally the first thing a professional software company thinks of when building license key generation, but when you think you're building a product for just a few people you don't hash out these details.
Now we've grown up, and we've got a new licensing system that we've rolled out in stages. The only problem is that we have millions of users that we've sold keys to, or a reseller has sold keys to, or we've given out keys to without keeping track. It is a mess, and you as a consumer have every right to be upset.
The first stage of this program is to collect data from our users. What keys are still alive, and who are they used by. If you are a true pirate, the furthest you will get is a year's worth of Malwarebytes. I wish we could handle each of the keys manually and determine if they are legitimate, but there are tens of millions of them and so we've automated the process a bit to cut them down. After that cut down, which is when a user selects an option, we will be going through the uses manually.
Again, I know this doesn't excuse those who feel cheated because they bought the software. I am happy to work with you on some free shirts, or a free copy of anti-exploit as you continue to support us through this process.

On Monday we will likely be rolling out 2.1.8 to the website. At this point, we have enough users and we feel it is stable so having it on Chip.de is fine. If you'd like to get your 2.1.8 upgrade, just open 2.1.6 and click Update Now >> once a minute or so and within 2-3 tries you should get it no problem!
-
We hope to make the change here in the next few days. When we do, it'll all be done at once and the new keys will be delivered and accepted in MBAM 2.1.8

Jared, if you can message me the samples we'll take a look!
-
Hey Mike, I'll get back to you on this issue once I talk to the team!
-
Can you shoot me a message? We'll get you a correct new key. Thanks for bringing this up!

1.75 will contain any definitions that we add, but obviously no technology enhancements (except for business users which are still on 1.75!)

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware will always have free removal capabilities. You didn't pay to get infected, you shouldn't pay to remove it.
With regards to control over what JRT was going to do, I would argue Malwarebytes Anti-Malware gives you way more control, i.e. what folders to scan, what items to remove, and finally the quarantine.

Hey everyone! I'm pleased to announce that we have acquired Junkware Removal Tool!
Junkware Removal Tool is a security utility that searches for and removes common adware, toolbars, and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) from your computer. A common tactics among freeware publishers is to offer their products for free, but bundle them with PUPs in order to earn revenue. (Source: BleepingComputer)
With the acquisition of JRT, we are reinforcing how serious we are about potentially unwanted programs which often trick users into getting installed and provide no real value to the end user. You can read more about our classification criteria here.
The developer of the tool, Filipos Mouliatis, joins our research team and will help us integrate the JRT technologies into our mainline Malwarebytes Anti-Malware product. The tool will survive as a standalone for those who want to continue using it, at least until we're able to replicate the functionality into Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
Feel free to spread the word at any of the other security forums that you frequent, and if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask me!
You can read the blog post here and the press release here.

We absolutely trust our programmers, but this is engineering 101, you test your software. More importantly, we're focusing our testing on our update throttling system and licensing system right now. Having too many users on all of that is what can take us downhill very quickly. So, we are throttling users onto the new version and will post a link soon .

What daledoc1 said above is correct, just uncheck the trial box. Alternatively, you can click End Trial in the product.
-
Was that issue present in 2.0?
-
Understood about the smilies, and hopefully we can get past it, but I'm here to speak for 30 million users and not the vocal few on the forums. Let's focus on the detections, scan speed, etc.
-
daledoc1, we realize that not everybody is going to like it. It tested best with every user we put in front of it. We're working on more techie tools that aren't geared towards the average consumer and I think you'll find you'll like that UI a lot better (more techy )

We don't like legalese either .

I wanted everyone to be aware that we've updated our privacy policy to describe in greater depth what information we collect and why we collect it. We understand that not all of you are lawyers so we've added a cool "translation" section that tells you in plain English what everything means.
Online privacy is super important to us. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the new privacy policy, just post them here.

A few questions have come up regarding this so I thought I would clear them up.
MBAM 1.75 is our most up to date, actively maintained, and supported product for business customers. This product is very stable and includes features that enables it to work properly in business environments. The malware detection/protection capabilities provided by this product are proven and consistent with those provided in the Consumer 2.0 versions. The main differences between the Business 1.75 and the Consumer 2.0 products are:- The Business 1.75 version has a more IT admin friendly UI vs. the more consumer friendly UI of Consumer 2.0 version.
- The Business 1.75 version contains features to enable it to be managed and work properly in business environments while the Consumer 2.0 version does not contain these features (e.g. there is no CLI support).
- The Business 1.75 version does not have our anti-rootkit remediation (MBAR) functionality included in the Consumer 2.0 version; however, MBAR is available as a standalone free tool to all Business users to ensure consistent efficacy for remediation purposes.
Updates that we have been making to the Consumer 2.0 product over the past year have been primarily focused around bug fixes, stabilization and UI/UX improvements. Thus, from an anti-malware efficacy and system performance standpoint, both products are essentially equal. We have not yet introduced a new business product as we want to ensure all of the above is ironed out and that the product is 100% ready for business users. As for future upgrades, we are currently working on a new version that will be available for both business and consumers later this year. This will include enhanced malware detection/protection capabilities, system performance improvements, user experience enhancements, and support for business environments. We will keep you all updated as we make progress towards the release of this new version.Hope that helps-mk -
We're running a bit late on the release because we wanted to squeeze a few other things in. It is looking like early March at the moment. We'll have a beta sooner for those interested

Settings button to show smiley instead of checkbox. Problem solved, all customers pleased.
If we did that with every little point of contention, we'd have 5,000 settings .
-
Alexandr, we're doing a review of all translations soon .
-
A wonderful exercise to show that you can't keep everybody happy .
-
Jim, great feedback. All of that is in the development build already I believe.
I would like my money back

That is indeed one reason why we're being generous. We realize some people paid someone for a pirated key. When the next stage comes, we will feel a lot better about who we've licensed correctly and we will be able to tighten more down.
