I Can't Update Either.

I believe it was two weeks ago I last updated Malwarebytes program--maybe three. So I try to update again the other day and it won't let me. I get a message that reads,"11004,0, no address found".

I went into a chat with local tech and he wrote that he believes I have a virus that is in the root-kit?

I unfortunately do not have the disc to re-install program. I got it installed--initially from come-to-your-home Tech service outfit. I should also say that I had my computer in storage for over a year while I was in China. So you can imagine how much updating I had to do. I think something just slipped through while I playing catch-up.

What options do I have and what does this board suggest I do? I also get re-directs to other websites (unintended) from google. I think this bug may be part of the problem.

And if you offer instructions, please help me with steps I should follow since I am not as savvy as some on some procedures.

It does sound as if you may be infected and/or your router has been hijacked.
