Help needed

My husband is an elderly gent with his first computer. I think we have a problem as Malwarebytes wont run (usually have no problems with it). There is a message that keeps popping up asking us to purchase a different antivirus program. This seems to indicate there is a TROJAN. Neither of us have much knowledge - is there a simple way to fix this?
