Malwarebytes won't launch/virus attack

Recommended Posts

My computer clearly has a virus or two on it. If I try to log on in normal mode, it hangs at the wallpaper screen most of the time and I cannot get to any programs or files. When I bring it up in safe mode, I can run a few anti-malware and adware programs. They seem to catch a few things, but they keep coming back. I have been trying to run Malwarebytes but it won't launch. I got it to run once early in the game and it found a few things (Trojan Fake Alert), but since then, the malware is back, redirecting me to other sites in some cases and again, will not let Malwarebytes open. I have tried changing the executable file name to explorer.exe, winlogon.exe and just random words with no luck. I have uninstalled and re-installed the program. I had actually purchased the pro version when this happened a few months ago, but it never allowed me to run scheduled scans. I don't know how this started. I did not see any kind of fake alert pop-up or security system menu.

I have included HijackThis logs. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate hearing from you.

Thank you.

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

Download DDS by sUBs and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on the DDS icon and let the scan run. When it has run two logs will be produced, please post the one that is not minimized.

After you post that, please visit this webpage for instructions for running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

  • When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt along with a new HijackThis log so we may continue cleaning the system.
