Account Hacked. Hidden keylogger?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me. A couple of days ago, I had an MMO account that got hacked into and stolen. This game has had a history of hijackings like this occurring that usually involve a keylogger or a Trojan getting on the computer, however I

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

Are you familiar with MIT_KFW?

Which MMO is it? If it's World of Warcraft, you may want to consider adding an Authenticator to your accounts and converting your account to a battle.net account. The former is a RSA hard token that works with WoW; it generates a new six-digit key every 30 seconds (Blizzard Authenticator FAQ). The latter ties an account permanently to an e-mail address (What is the Battle.net Account?).

Regardless of what it is, it's highly likely that you password was just easy to crack. Change your passwords to hard to crack passwords. Use this Password Strength Checker by Microsoft.

Let me know how it goes.

Hello and thanks for responding. I believe that that MIT_KFW has to do with opening Kerberos tickets which we used at our university, though I'm not positive. I've graduated already though so I wouldn't miss it if it you think its potentially harmful. I suppose I should have mentioned before that it was Final Fantasy XI account. There is some sort of security token that Square Enix has started offering since there have been so many hijackings recently, so I'll probably look into that once I confirm that my computer is safe.

Okay thanks for letting me know. MIT_KFW isn't harmful; just wanted to make sure you were familiar with it.

Update MBAM, run a Quick Scan, and post its log.

Next, please run the PCPitstop Full Tests here. When the tests are complete, a results page will pop up. Copy and paste the URL of the Results screen and post it here for me.

Next, download DDS by sUBs and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on the DDS icon and let the scan run. When it has run two logs will be produced, please post the one that is not minimized.

Next, please use the Internet Explorer browser and click here to use the F-Secure Online Scanner.

  • Click Start Scanning.
  • You should get a notification bar (on top) to install the ActiveX control.
  • Click on it and select to install the ActiveX.
  • Once the ActiveX is installed, you should accept the License terms by clicking OK below to start the scan.
  • In case you are having problems with installing the ActiveX/starting the scan, please read here.
  • Click the Full System Scan button.
  • It will start to download scanner components and databases. This can take a while.
  • The main scan will start.
  • Once the scan has finished scanning, click the Automatic cleaning (recommended) button
  • It could be possible that your firewall gives an alert - allow it, because that's a connection you establish to submit infected files to F-Secure.
  • The cleaning can take a while, so please be patient.
  • Then click the Show report button and Copy/Paste what is present under results in your next reply.

Next, download my Security Check from here or here.

  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Hi,

PCPitStop noted several things that you can do to improve the shape your computer is in.

Pay particular attention to these items:

Check Battery Recall!

Dell recently recalled 4.1 million notebook batteries due to overheating and sometime explosions with the batteries. Affected models include yours. I highly recommend that you look into getting your replaced by Dell.
