IP Protection causing large DPC latency spikes - Win7x64

Recommended Posts

I just got Windows 7 x64 up and running over the weekend. I ran a program called DPC Latency Checker and noticed I had tremendous spikes when accessing the Internet or downloading a file. I was also getting medium spike when my computer was idle. I did not have this problem when running XP on this same machine. I traced the problem down the Malware Bytes' IP protection module. When I disabled it the DPC latency was a rock solid green. I like having the IP protection but I don't how it slows my system down. More importantly I use my machine for recording and DPC latency spikes are a very bad thing for a system designed for recording multitrack audio. They can cause audio drop outs and glitches during playback.

Any observations or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

Eric
