You may have some data corruption on that hard drive. The reason you can not see the folders, is because they are probably hidden or protected.

You need to run a Checkdisk on that hard drive and maybe run some sort of hard drive diagnostics to test your hard drive.

Also run a disk cleaner (like CCleaner) to help get rid of temp files to help speed up and possible get a successful full scan.

Come back and let us know if you need further instructions on running a disk scan, and let us know what operating system you are using.

Here are some instructions:

Please run a Disk Check on your C: drive:

  • Click Start and open My Computer
  • Right-click on C: and select Properties
  • Click on the Tools tab
  • Under Error-checking click the Check Now... button
  • Mark the box next to Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors
  • When the message box pops up, click the Schedule disk check button and restart your computer

Once the disk check completes after a reboot, go ahead and try scanning again to see if it works this time. If it does not then proceed with the following to see if it corrects it:

Windows XP:

  • Click on Start and select Control Panel
  • Open Add/Remove Programs
  • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Restart your computer very important
  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it.

Windows Vista and Windows 7:

  • Click on the Start Orb vista-7-start.png and select Control Panel
  • Click on Programs and Features
  • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
