IP Protection info need

After using MBAM for free for a long time, I just purchased a license. Now I am trying to learn more about IP Protection... are there any notes on how it works? What is the difference between IP Protection and a Hosts file? Aren't they similar? Thanks!

Greetings mynorgeek long time no see

The IP Protection module is a bit different from a HOSTS file, where a HOSTS file blocks sites by DNS name, the IP Protection module blocks sites by actual IP addresses and also has the capability to block out entire IP ranges for known bad domains.
