firefox shutsdown when playing divx

I recently got a virus on my computer called 'Antivirus Live'. It posed as an antivirus program and took over parts of my computer. I followed some extensive instructions (i.e. downloaded malwarebytes antimalware and others) and it seems like the virus is gone. However when I try to play Divx video in either Firefox, Chrome or IE it presents an error message and shuts down. Is anyone else having this problem?

Please try uninstalling your current version of DivX and then download and install a new version directly from the DivX home page.

I've tried this and it didn't work. The same error message appears. Any other ideas??

Well not sure where you received assistance with cleanup before but maybe go post here on our HJT forum for help in verifying that your system is not currently somehow re-infected and once it's been confirmed that there is no infection you can then post in the PC Help forum and I'm sure they'll be able to get you sorted out.
