707 (3, 0) error

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have got the Security Tool malware on on a laptop and I can't get rid of it. The laptop is running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3. Its preventing me from installing Malwarebytes, the Cleanup tool, the Rkill tool. I also can't boot into Safe Mode.

This are the steps I have taken so far, following the instructions forum administrator, Miekiemoes, provided another member.

1. Deleted the random numbered folders (there were four of them) in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data

2. Checked the registry locations HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run but didn't find any entries

3. Tried to launch mbam.exe but was unsuccessful

4. Tried booting into Safe Mode and Safe Mode with Networking and was unsuccessful

5. Booting back into regular mode, tried to run the cleanup tool and was unsuccessful

6. Ran the RKill.com tool and the black Dos Window appears for a microsecond then goes away

7. Manually created the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder in C:\Program Files\

8. Copied the randomnized .exe to C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\ and launch it and I get the Error 707 (3, 0)

8. Copied mbam.exe to C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and renamed it to explorer.exe, tried to launch it but was unsuccessful

9. Tried running HiJackThis and was unsuccessful

I tried to be as thorough as possible with the information that I have provided, but if you require any more info please let me know.

Any assistance with resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to get my company to purchase a corporate license of the product. If we can get this resolved, it will go a long with in helping my cause.

Thank you.
