Hellouser998 Posted December 12, 2021 ID:1492634 Share Posted December 12, 2021 Hi unfortunaty this morning I received .scr files hided as mp4. I double clicked them, nothing happened, then I got the “file corrupted” message from windows (i hope that was true). Then I searched and found out that these could highly possibly be viruses. I immediately removed the files and changed my main passwords. I did a scan with avast and that was clean. I’m just afraid that by double clicking it run and they stole passwords/data. How can I find out if that happened or not? Can the “file corrupted” message and the clean avast scan make me feel optimistic about it or di I have to concern? Someone used my channel to make a live about ethereum foundation, don’t know what it is. Then I contacted YouTube, I hope they will restore my channel and my videos hope this is the end and I won’t have further problems, what do you think? I changed my Gmail password after the channel was closed
Root Admin Solution AdvancedSetup Posted December 13, 2021 Root Admin Solution ID:1492714 Share Posted December 13, 2021 Hello @Hellouser998 Did you change your passwords from a known good clean computer? Do you have 2FA enabled on your accounts? Recommend using a Password Manager for all websites, etc. that require a password. Never use the same password on more than one site.https://www.howtogeek.com/240255/password-managers-compared-lastpass-vs-keepass-vs-dashlane-vs-1password/ Keep all software up to date - PatchMyPC - https://patchmypc.com/home-updater#download Keep your Operating System up to date and current at all times - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-update-faq-8a903416-6f45-0718-f5c7-375e92dddeb2 Install a content blocker for your browser. Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted December 13, 2021 Root Admin ID:1492717 Share Posted December 13, 2021 In the future I highly suggest NEVER changing your passwords form a phone. It is so much more difficult to tell if a phone is infected than a computer. Cheers
