Can't install

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

I have the same error as described above:  ShellExecuteEx failed; code 5. Access is denied.

I have tried the following:

  1. Uninstalled Crypto-Prevent
  2. Disabled Bitdefender Firewall
  3. Disabled all Bitdefender modules
  4. Added exceptions to Bitdefender AV as listed in link above.
  5. Downloaded installation file, attempted to "run as administrator".

Still no luck, any further advice?

Thanks

There's a bunch of remnants leftover, specifically you have group policies set to block programs in your temp directory

You'll need to remove all these policies. I believe CryptoPrevent has an option to undo all these entries but you will probably need to reinstall it first

OK, I reinstalled Crypto Prevent, and think I found away to remove the policies for those listed that begin %userprofile% or %appdata%.

Not sure what to do about the others.  Those are registry entries I gather.  I'm reluctant to fool around in there.

Thoughts?

So...I deleted the policies that began with %userprofile% from the list above, and rebooted.  It did not resolve.

After those deletions CryptoPrevent  still listed 3,427 policies.   I deleted all of those, and rebooted.   After that, the upgrade installed.

Huzzah!

Thanks for speedy responses, and for hanging in there with me.
