Hello Hisserto

Thanks for that log from ESET, nothing really serious found, I would still recommend that those entries are removed. Navigate to each in turn and right click and select "Delete"

C:\Users\ducks\Downloads\Mapscen\ccsetup528.exe
F:\Users\Bobby\Downloads\CMBB_Demo_Setup.exe
F:\Windows\CouponPrinter.ocx
J:\Downloads\ccsetup536.exe

How is your PC responding in general, what happens with browser, any redirects or odd behaviour.... Does your system boot up and closeout normally...

Thank you,

Kevin....

Yes three pages, we`ve been busy... If your PC has no issue we can clean up..

Uninstall Sophos AV http://www.askvg.com/how-to-completely-uninstall-remove-a-software-program-in-windows-without-using-3rd-party-software/

Next,

Type or copy paste %userprofile%\appdata\local into the search function, scroll to and delete ESET folder

Next,

Download "Delfix by Xplode" and save it to your desktop.

Or use the following if first link is down:

"Delfix link mirror"

If your security program alerts to Delfix either, accept the alert or turn your security off.

Double Click to start the program. If you are using Vista or higher, please right-click and choose run as administrator

Make Sure the following items are checked:

  • Remove disinfection tools <----- this will remove tools we may have used.
  • Purge System Restore <--- this will remove all previous and possibly exploited restore points, a new point relative to system status at present will be created.
  • Reset system settings <--- this will reset any system settings back to default that were changed either by us during cleansing or malware/infection

Now click on "Run" and wait patiently until the tool has completed.

The tool will create a log when it has completed. We don't need you to post this.

Any remnant files/logs from tools we have used can be deleted…

Kevin, Thanks for your help I really admire your ability and will to help others.

I take it your not a fan of CCleaner?

One other question is I looked into Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security and the list it shows is huge. How does one know what's safe or not.

I guess I need to start reading about it.

Thanks again for your help.

Hello Hisserto,

The easiest way to check out what is good or bad is not as easy as you may think. A simple Google search can bring up several hits for any entry you list, problem is they might not all be legitimate.

Always have a good security system enabled and updated, same goes for Windows, keep that updated too. For security I personally have the following on Windows 10 systems:

Windows Defender - http://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-defender-settings-windows-10
Windows Firewall - http://www.thewindowsclub.com/how-to-configure-windows-7-firewall
Malwarebytes Premium - https://www.malwarebytes.com/premium/
Unchecky - https://unchecky.com/
McShield - http://www.mcshield.net/
VirusTotal - https://www.virustotal.com/#/home/search - Bookmark this in your default browser, use for checking out files, url`s, IP Addresses, domains etc....

Hope that info helps you...
Kevin..
