tandy Posted May 14, 2017 ID:1124911 Share Posted May 14, 2017 Greetings. I was wondering if the option to scan for rootkits is supposed to be accessible for free users. No matter what I do, it still shows as disabled in the reports. Summary.txt MB-CheckResults.txt
dcollins Posted May 14, 2017 ID:1124939 Share Posted May 14, 2017 When you run a custom scan, you need to check the box to enable rootkit scans. Checking it under Settings -> Protection only turns on rootkit scanning for default threat scans
tandy Posted May 14, 2017 Author ID:1124954 Share Posted May 14, 2017 Yes, you're right, but that's not it. I'm sorry, my light explanation was ambiguous. The rootkit scanning gets checked under Scan > Custom Scan, but looks like that configuration does not apply to custom scans via the context menu, as the box gets unchecked the moment the Scan tab is closed. Though right clicking the system drive icon is way more convenient than opening the software for custom scanning. Is there a way to make that setting permanent for free users or is this an intended behaviour?
dcollins Posted May 14, 2017 ID:1124956 Share Posted May 14, 2017 This is intended behavior, even in premium mode this is how it works (although in premium mode you can set a scheduled scan to scan the entire drive and enable rootkit scanning there)
