  1. So as i was using MalwareBytes my device found 43 detections as it was sending them to quarantine it was stuck on removing 4 out of 43 it has been 4 hours since and it still hasn't been removed , i have 4 gigabytes of ram and no background applications were running . So can anyone help me?
  2. Wasn't quite sure where to put this, but just wanted to show some appreciation for the folks that have the free version of Malwarebytes out there for people to scan and use whenever they need to. Truly is awesome.
  3. Hi guys. you can consider for the antimalware starts with the system in the free version , once you completed the 14 days off, and stay icon on the taskbar?
  4. Good Morning, My previously registered MWB-3 has reverted to Free. Unable to enter an ID and key in [Activate Licence] - only [Exit] and [Purchase] are clickable - middle option greyed-out and unreadable. Regards Cheemag
  5. I use malwarebytes 3 [home] premium and am happy with it, but I would feel a little safer if I had another antimalware program, obviously one that is compatible with mbam. I was using MS Security Essentials on my Windows XP system and it actually found a virus that mbam did not, or at least did not tell me about [perhaps MSSE stopped it before mbam had a chance]. I have Windows Defender, of course, on my W8.1 system, but apparently it has been disabled. I have tried Avira, but consider it too obtrusive. AVG appears incompatible. Avast seemed OK on my XP system, but I have not tried it on W8.1. In short, I am hoping to get some advice as to which free antimalware program the experts at this forum would recommend. Thank you, ralatmby [Robert Leeper]
  6. Hi everyone! This is only my second post ever on this forum, and I am not very experienced when it comes to antiviruses and antimalware. My question is, is Malwarebytes Free (for me, it is version 3.3.1) good enough to protect my computer on its own? Should I upgrade to premium or download another antivirus?
  7. New free version 3 adds lots of components that I don't want for on-demand scanning. While the previous version was very user-friendly, this one expects constant Internet connection, leaves a service and a try icon running, and no doubt has other problems I haven't discovered yet. I'm running Windows 7 SP1. I've used Malwarebytes free for years as an occasional on-demand scanner to supplement my less capable real-time scanner, especially after engaging in potentially risky behavior like downloading new Subaru GPS map updates from an Eastern-European company. Last night I ran the previous version and asked for a database update. (I prefer to do this manually.) Of course it installed the new version, and I had to ask again for a current database (not so obvious how to do that now, since it doesn't show the date/time stamp). Then I ran a scan (overnight, with my Internet unplugged for better security). When I came back in the morning, I could not close the program because it kept throwing up new warning boxes complaining about no Internet access. (Apparently all it wanted was to check for a newer database.) I had to use Task Manager to shut it down, and even then there were a tray icon and a service still running that I had to kill manually. Looking more carefully at the settings, I could not find any way to disable automatic database checks or an apparently scheduled scan for one month hence. I'm still not really sure, given that the service was still running, whether it was doing on-demand scanning in the background or not. Further, I'm not even sure that there aren't other traces of the software still running but hidden from me (like malware?). Of course I may be missing some settings or other ways to control Version 3. Perhaps one of you can fill me in on how to achieve what I want from the new version? Bottom line -- none of this is what I want in an on-demand scanner. It appears the company is trying to make the free version so annoying as to force people to subscribe to the full version, but they are more likely to drive me away entirely! -- JClarkW
  8. I'll start by noting that this issue does not exist on one machine, but several machines which are all on the same domain. However, not every machine on the domain has this issue. The machines all use either Windows 7 or Windows 10. Malwarebytes does not freeze. What happens is at some point during any point after scanning "startup items" the scan will suddenly appear stuck as the "number of objects scanned" will stop increasing. The scan timer will keep ticking the entire time, but no progress is being made. I can pause the scan, and when I resume the scan there is no change in progress. The graphic with the spinning green arrows keeps going as normal even with no progress being made. I can let the scan keep going all night, and when I come back the next day the scan will still be stuck at the same spot as before. Upon finally hitting cancel, the scan acts like something is happening, but nothing ever happens. I am forced to go into task manager and end process on "malwarebytes service" in order to perform another scan. I am able to navigate through all of the other various menus within the program during a scan, etc. The scan is never stuck on the same file, file type, etc. Sometimes it will sit on "Scanning startup items" or "scanning file system" or during "registry items" or even during "heuristics analysis", but the number of objects scanned does not increase. The only way Malwarebytes can complete a scan is by going to the custom scan menu, choosing the custom scan option, and unchecking "Scan Startup and Registry settings." I can deselect all other options other than startup and registry settings, and the scan will become stuck during "heuristics analysis". So far I am still able to complete a threat scan on three different machines out of many that cannot. All machines can complete a scan by unchecking startup and registry settings from the scan. One of these three machines is running Windows 7, while the other two are running Windows 10. Windows and all other programs are up to date. I've tried excluding as well as completely uninstalling and purging the antivirus since that is the only program other than Windows/Microsoft office/adobe reader that is consistent between all machines (removing any or all of these programs does not change the outcome either), but that did not change the outcome of the scan. The antivirus has since been reinstalled. I'm running out of ideas. Any ideas and help is appreciated. I have tried using 3.2 beta version as well, and there is no change in the outcome of the scan. mb-check-results.zip
  9. What is the best FREE full protection anti-virus out there?
  10. Greetings. I was wondering if the option to scan for rootkits is supposed to be accessible for free users. No matter what I do, it still shows as disabled in the reports. Summary.txt MB-CheckResults.txt
  11. I downloaded the latest Malwarebytes "Free" version and it is showing me "Trial" in the Malwarebytes Window title...and showing now "12 Day(s) Remaining". This is revision "1.62.0.2.1300". Here is what I did: 1. I went to the "Malwarebytes.org" website--> 2. Clicked on the "Free Download-From our trusted Partner Sites" box--> 3. Got to the following webpage: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button 4. Clicked on the green "Download Now" Box. 5. Downloaded the following binary file as a "Save" to my hard drive: mbam-setup-1.62.0.1300.exe 6. Clicked on the above file... 7. I am now showing "TRIAL" in the Malwarebytes Window "Title" when I open Malwarebytes with the "tabs" to do a "Scan" or to do an "Update". It does have "Protection" Module operational and there is a "Malwarebytes" ICON in the "Tray". I did NOT ask for the "Pro" version. I only wanted the "FREE" version. --I also tried installing from the following earlier version: mbam-setup-1.51.2.1300.exe. When this was installed, this file also updated to the "1.62.0.1300" "Trial" version automatically without me doing anything. --On another computer which has been running Malwarebytes continuously for the last year or more, the Malwaebytres was automatically updated to the 1.62.0.1300 revision. However, on that other computer, Malwarebytes Window does NOT show a "TRIAL" in the title and there isno "Malwarebytes" Icon in the tray, and there is NO "Protection" Module activated. WHAT IS HAPPENING? WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER 12 MORE DAYS? WILL I LOSE MY MALWAREBYTES AND NEVER BE ABLE TO INSTALL THE "FREE VERSION? Many thanks.
  12. I recently installed MBAM Free v2 on a friend's computer, and when I went to the Advanced Settings screen, I tried to uncheck the "Start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware with Windows" option (since it was already checked, and I wasn't sure if it would conflict with her resident AV program). However, this option was grayed out, and hovering the mouse over the option resulted in the phrase "This feature is only available in Trial and Premium versions" appearing. Initially I thought that this meant that the only way to not have MBAM automatically run on startup, was to upgrade her version and uncheck this option on the upgraded version. But after playing around it seems that even though this option is checked, the free version doesn't automatically start with Windows (which is what we wanted for now). So maybe the various options that aren't available with the free version should be displayed as unchecked on this screen, or maybe there could be a disclaimer saying that these options are automatically disabled in the free version. Because as it displays now, it is a bit confusing. Does my suggestion make sense, or am I completely misunderstanding this screen? I use MBAM Premium, so I am able to turn the options on or off with that version.

  14. Dear Malwarebytes Anti-Malware team, Im having problem running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. After installation the app won't start. Double click then nothing happen. Please help to solve this problem. Thank You Regads Markus
  15. After reading https://www.malwarebytes.org/antiexploit/ (compare table) and https://www.malwarebytes.org/antiexploit/premium/ (browser components section), I want to ask this despite the fact this might be obvious for other people. I think that if MBAE would show both the number of shielded applications and the number of shielded processes would make things a lot clearer, rendering questions like this unnecessary. What is not very clear for me is that by cross reading from these 2 pages I can understand that MBAE Free can protect browser and browser add-ons not just Flash and Java but any add-on running in browser process space. Correct? Also it is not absolutely clear what browser process space mean. It is the browser process or the browser process and all its potential child processes?
  16. The other day I did a Malwarebytes scan and everything was fine, no problems. Today I did a Malwarebytes scan on the computer I'm typing on, it found some things but I had to cancel the scan to remove it because the heuristic analysis was going on forever. Then I did a scan on another computer- it is still doing the heuristic analysis. It definitely wasn't taking this long the other day. Both the computers have the latest update and definitions installed. Is this a bug/side effect in the latest update or is something else wrong?
  17. Always recommended Malwarebytes to customers and friends but sadly this new version is bugged. The very first scan I did after upgrading worked fine. Tried various subversions of V2 free since including the latest 2.0.2.1007 and it now always hangs during the Heuristics scan. The program cannot be paused, cancelled or closed once the file count is stuck and so the process has to be killed off. I tried the usual recommendation of the uninstaller, reboot, reinstall - it makes no difference. Turning off "Use Advanced Heuristics Engine" doesn't actually turn off the Heuristics scan like you would expect. So sadly a useful utility now useless until its fixed!
  18. HI, first up - I'm new here, so hello everybody. I've been using Malwarebytes for years and it's always been a helpful program for me to have. So it's unfortunate that my very first post here is about a problem with the software. But I've looked all over, and despite finding that other people have had the same/similar issues as me, I'm not seeing a solution that works. Simply put, I downloaded the latest version of Malwarebytes recently, only to discover that now, whenever I attempt to scan it, it stops responding and crashes before it even gets past the "Scanning for updates" section. At first, I thought it was something to do with the updates themselves, so I hit the "Skip update scan" button or whatever it's called, only for the program to crash regardless. No error codes come up, no messages, nothing. I've seen a lot of other people talking about log files or something to track crashes, but I don't know where I'd even find those, let alone if my version is giving me them. Some details: Operating system: Windows 7 x64 bit Malwarebytes version: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Free) 2.0.2.1012 I can provide other system specs if needed. Somebody please help.
  19. Maybe I'm the only one facing this issue. I keep my PC very clean (IT Manager). I run SAS, CCLEANER, AVG, and MBAM regularly. Haven't been infected in years. (Note: I use the free version of MBAM so I'm not expecting help from tech support. I used to use the reg version at work and think the free version is adequate for my needs). So I run the aforementioned without issue and then MBAM which wants to update to the latest version. Sure no problem in 7 years. Now it does not work. Symptoms: Starts nice new interface. Hit update,,,, nice status bar rolling,,, closes. Try running a scan same thing. What I've tried so far (which is about everything). Note" same exact experience after each idea. 1. Remove MBAM reboot. Re-install, nope. 2. Remove MBAM reboot safe wn re-install. nope 3. Remove MBAM reboot run CCLEANER re-install. nope 4. Run MBAM Anti-Rootkit. nothing 5. Run TDSS-Killer. nothing 6. Windows update maybe a DLL or something, no updates. 7. WIN Firewall add all MBAM .exe. nope 8. Shutoff AVG remove and re-install, reboot. nope 9. Run RKILL. nothing 10. Smash head on KYBD, doesn't help. 11. Run MBAM removal, reboot into safe wn. no dice 12 Read every forum I can find. nothing really applies. 13. Post this message. Help if you can! I recommend my clients buy MBAM and have loved the program for over 8 years, I'm now thinking I've either got something nasty or MBAM is conflicting with something strange. Thanks to anyone who can help!
  20. Please unblock this website. It is definitely clean. Thank you.
  21. Hi folks, I downloaded the free version of EaseUS partition manager yesterday and shortly after running it following installation, further installation of unwanted programs took place. I cannot be 100% certain that the EaseUS partition manager contains these but it has to be more than coincidence as they installed a matter of seconds after I ran EaseUS for the first time. This is on a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit with few other applications. Details of the unwanted software: - conduit toolbar / extension / addon / plugin - seen in Chrome and Firefox toolbars - trustworthy toolbar extension plugin - seen in Firefox - AVG PC tune up installed Conduit replaces the default search engine with theirs and also the startup page URL. It's installed as a toolbar in Chrome for certain and I think Firefox as well. It is also installed as Windows application. Trustworthy toolbar is installed in firefox. Removal via standard Uninstall a program in Windows - remove Conduit remove conduit from search engines list in Chrome in settings remove conduit url from setting for page to open when chrome starts change home page url back to what you want in standard settings disable conduit and trustworthy addon / plugin / extension / toolbar in firefox Remove AVG tuneup via standard uninstall that seams to get rid of the visible manifestions - but I am now paranoid about what is lurking unseen, root kit I feel that I am justified in suspecting EaseUS as a carrier of these programs as all of it happened right after running EaseUS for the first time. I have used this software before and found it to be useful without problems, so it would appear that this malware has been included in more recent versions. Other reasons why I am suspicious of it: - It's free software - there's a lot of good free honest software out there but I guess they want to make their money in this case some how - by ad revenue from changing browser URL to the conduit search engine - It is made in a country that are among those that have been suggested in reports as the source of hacking on large scale at large organisation Norton did not detect any issue with the epm.exe install package downloaded that contains the EaseUS partition manager - and presumably suspected of containing above unwanted software. I'm rather disappointed in EaseUS if they have included this stuff in their installation.
  22. Recently, malwarebytes has been blocking a website by the name of "Project - Free TV." The website's url is http://www.free-tv-video-online.me. Although it's an inconvenience, I have dealt with this by bypassing this blocking by temporarily disabling website blocking. However, it would be pretty nice if it could be unblocked completely. Thank you for the time. I appreciate it a lot.
  23. Hello all, I was just wondering what the best type of FREE anti-virus there was. I have heard of so many such as AVAST and AVG etc. Anybody know the best one to use? Any help would be appreciated. I am using Windows 7 Internet Explorer 9.
  24. Hello! My name is Fabian from Argentina. My problem is I can not still use malwarebytes, which is free, because it asks for ID and password to stay active. Please could someone give me a solution or an ID and password to reactivate Thank you! ¡Hola! Mi nombre es Fabián de Argentina. Mi problema es que no se puede seguir utilizando malwarebytes, que es gratis, porque pide el ID y la clave para continuar activo. Por favor, podría alguien darme una solución o una identificación y clave para reactivarlo : (
  25. Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you know that after updating the free version of Malwarebytes on an old computer of mine it now automatically updates as if it was a full paid professional edition. I didn't know if this was a new feature so I thought I'd mention it on here before I did anything. I have not activated the trial version, it's running the standard free edition.
