Clicked on a suspicious .exe file

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Today I clicked on a suspicious .exe file and am unsure whether my computer is infected. My UAC setting is set to default and I did not receive a notification when I double-clicked it. My computer was transferring about 30 GB of files in the background so the notification may have been slow/delayed. Regardless, I manually cut power to the computer after about a minute.

Am I at risk?

Quarantine all that's found

Post the log (save the log as a .txt file not .xml)

Then......

2. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) and save it to a folder.

Out dated programs on the system are vulnerable to malware.

Uncheck the box to install the Ask toolbar!!!, McAfee Security Scan Plus or any other free "stuff".

If there's no update tab in Java, uninstall it and Download and install the latest version from Here
Uncheck the box to install the Ask toolbar!!!, McAfee Security Scan Plus or any other free "stuff".

MrCharlie,

Had some weird behaviour today. My keyboard (laptop) became disabled. I realized that I could not input any keys - even after opening the Virtual Keyboard from KIS, still could not input text in my browser window or in renaming file names on my desktop.

Then, after I closed Firefox (which had been running) I could use the keyboard again.

Malicious or not?

Cheers,

Vlad
