Needed to make some money on the side, so I'm upgrading/cleaning a laptop for someone. After removing the RapidAntivirus that they thought was their real antivirus, and removing the traces of Norton still gunking up the system, and swapping out one of the 256 for a 512 so that the onboard video wasn't slowing the computer to a crawl, I come across these two.

I'm told that BHO.Trojan is a particularly nasty bugger to get rid of. HJT first, Anti-Malware log coming as soon as it finishes scanning. (Rerunning to see if it clears up, since there was a new update since I started posting.)

Call off the dogs, ComboFix seems to have deepsixed the damn things. Now, to fix this tragically thrashed install of AVG that wouldn't uninstall so I could run ComboFix, but ran ComboFix anyhow.

If you guys want the ComboFix log, I can upload that.

STEP 01

Update and Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

• Start MalwareBytes AntiMalware (Vista users must Right click and choose RunAs Admin)
  
• Please DO NOT run MBAM in Safe Mode unless requested to, you MUST run it in normal Windows mode.
  
  • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Select the Update tab
    
  • Click Update
    

  [*]When the update is complete, select the Scanner tab

  [*]Select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.

  [*]When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

  [*]Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

  [*]When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply

  • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:

Then post back the MBAM log and a new Hijackthis log.

STEP 02

Download

DDS

and save it to your desktop

Disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.

Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.

Then double click

dds.scr

to run the tool.

When done, the

DDS.txt

will open.

Click Yes at the next prompt for Optional Scan.

When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:

1. DDS.txt
2. Attach.txt
   
   

• Save both reports to your desktop
• Please include the following logs in your next reply:

Whoops, yes. It is gone. ComboFix took care of it, and just before I returned the computer Monday, I ran MBAM one last time. It reported no further infections on the computer, so I'm likely to believe that ComboFix took care of it.

I would have posted the logs then, but *I* personally still don't trust the computer enough to enter my passwords in on it, even if it is to the MalwareByes forums, and I had forgotten to post once I got home on Monday. The thing had several keyloggers, and even though it might be "clean"... well, you know the rest.

I can't seem to find the flash drive that I saved the logs to... might have left it at work. Sorry. =T
