need assistance from a malware removal expert

Recommended Posts

I posted earlier about my situation in the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Help forum (entry 849585, "malwarebytes will not open, possible infection"), and was directed to post my problem in the Malware Removal Help forum, so here goes.  In short, Malwarebytes will not open on my computer.  I am able to uninstall it using the clean removal tool and reinstall it, and then run a scan, but the scans haven't turned up anything and invariably Malwarebytes becomes unresponsive again.  I think I may be infected with malware, and the Malwarebytes support expert who responded to my first post thought so too.

I don't know if it's worth mentioning, but I have Norton 360 on my computer too and ran a full system scan.  It didn't turn up anything, but then again the scan also went a lot faster than usual (it finished in less than 15 minutes), so I'm still thinking that something is seriously wrong.  (Not to mention that Norton hasn't been so good at detecting viruses and bugs in the past, either.  All I can really count on it for is to provide me with a false sense of security.)  Also, I do have the paid premium version of Malwarebytes on my computer, if that makes any difference in how much I can be helped with this.

Please respond and let me know what to do next to get my computer malware-free and Malwarebytes up and running normally again.  Thanks!
