Installation failed. Generic failure.

Hello,

 

We have MEE installed on our server (just updated to 1.3.1.1962) and I am pushing out client version 1.75.0.1300.

 

One of computers continues to get an execution result saying "Generic Failure". I have looked around the web and forums

but have not had much luck finding a fix.

 

Any suggestions?

Hi greg9021,

 

On this computer, can you try exporting a client package and installing manually, to see if you get a different result?  To do so:

 

1) Click on the Policy Pane

2) Choose a policy

3) Click on "Installation Package."

4) Choose a directory, usually desktop unless you want to make a specific folder for your installation packages.

5) Choose a Client Group, if any have been created. (Not necessary for AD computers.)

6) Choose whether or not you want Start Menu or desktop icons.

7) Choose whether you want an EXE file or MSI file.

8) Click Export.

 

 

This will generate a file at the desired directory.  You can then take this to the computer for manual install.

It turns out there was a good chunck of PUP's on there (Webcake3.0). The Windows Update is not working

properly so I will swap that machine out (all ready pushed MBAM to it) and bring the old one back here to test.

The install via USB worked great. I will use that for the other pcs with that error.
