Hey guys, just want you to look this over.

Recommended Posts

I have been getting pop-ups lately, and wondered what I had stupidly walked into and where. I first tried AVG, and that didn't fix the problem. Then I downloaded Ad-Aware, and it found a Win32TrojanSpyBanker. I found some people saying that it wasn't a real threat, but a couple of others, including Ad-Aware, said it was serious threat that went for banking information. I decided it was better safe than sorry, and after using Ad-Aware to remove it (which did not get rid of the pop-ups), I downloaded Malwarebytes. I did a scan overnight, and it came up with the Vundo and a few other things I didn't note. I want to make sure everything is gone. I have the Malwarebytes log, and a Hijackthis log, and I will include both. I would definitely appreciate some help on this, and am already taking steps to protect my bank account, which I have logged into several times recently, such as changing my password on a different system, and changing my PIN once this computer is clean. If help could be given, I would be greatly relieved to finally have some peace of mind, and I would be indebted to you all.

Hi,

I see you have Viewpoint installed...

Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This will change from what we know in 2006 read this article: http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546

I suggest you remove the program now. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.

  • Viewpoint
  • Viewpoint Manager
  • Viewpoint Media Player

Then, * Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)

O1 - Hosts: 82.98.231.89 url.adtrgt.com

O1 - Hosts: 82.98.231.89 googleads2.gdoubleclick.net

O1 - Hosts: ww.audio-surf.com

O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\Run: [weyunufuna] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\nibaheya.dll",s (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')

O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Then rescan with MalwareBytes and let it remove everything it is finding.

Reboot and post a new HijackThislog in your next reply together with a new log from MalwareBytes

Hello! Thank you for responding. I have already received help in another forum, but I'm going to follow through with your instructions just to be safe, and to double check. And they did not tell me about Viewpoint, so you may catch some things they missed. You can never be safe enough. Haha. Thank you very much for helping!

Okay, I did as requested, and the only 2 files HJT found that you wanted me to fix were

R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)

and

O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\Run: [weyunufuna] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\nibaheya.dll",s (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')

I'm guessing the others were deleted earlier when I received other aid.

While I was scanning with MBAM, an alert popped up telling me I had a virus, but I had the knee-jerk reaction of clicking remove without checking which program told me I had the virus. It could have been another anti-malware program running while MBAM was running, because I forgot to turn them off. I am unsure. But the MBAM log came up clean. So I dunno. Here are the logs, HJT first, MBAM second.

It seems that I am in the clear, just the only confusing thing was the virus warning I received. Thanks for taking the time to look everything over!

I have already received help in another forum, but I'm going to follow through with your instructions just to be safe, and to double check. And they did not tell me about Viewpoint, so you may catch some things they missed. You can never be safe enough. Haha. Thank you very much for helping!
Yes, but getting help at different forums at the same time causes extra confusion, especially since I now see other malicious entries in your HijackThislog that weren't present before.

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: , c:\windows\system32\jorutizu.dll c:\windows\system32\natapafu.dll c:\windows\system32\merenosu.dll

This is really confusing for me and I don't know either how to proceed since logs just don't make sense anymore.

It would be a good idea to post the link from the forum where you are already receiving help, so I can understand what steps were performed/missed in between.

Everything is running fine now! Thank you so much for being patient and taking your time with me! I really appreciate it a lot! I have a debt to this community now as well. Perhaps in the near future I will be making a purchase or donation. :P Thank you!

Aaron

Glad I could help. :P

Please read my Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.

And if you want to improve speed/system performance after malware removal, take a look here.

Extra note: Make sure your programs are up to date - because older versions may contain Security Leaks. To find out what programs need to be updated, please run the Secunia Software Inspector Scan.

Happy Surfing again!
