Renaming a computer.

I am using MEE and have installed the client on a number of computers. I have changed the name on one of these computers, however the MEE still displays the old name under the clients view. When I select that client and look at the system logs it shows the new name. The client info still shows the old computer name. Will this change?

Hi jheft!

 

When I attempted to reproduce this, my test client changed it's name in my client pane.

 

What I did was:

 

Joined my client to my domain as Test1, restarted.

Pushed out an MEE Client.

Verified it showed up in my client pane as Test1.

Changed name on PC to Test2, restarted.

Refreshed client pane on MEE, Test1 changed to Test2.

 

The name should change when the client checks in.  Can you verify that you have refreshed the client pane, or that you have auto-refresh enabled?

 

Also, what is the communication time set to in the policy for that client?

Glad to hear it is working Jason!

 

One thing to note is that changes will usually happen when the client checks in, which is determined by your communication setting as described before.  If you don't see a change going through, be sure to check it's setting.
