It ran and said that it cured it but still not acting right. Slow, lots of wait spinning circle, cannot type in a web address and go to the website, if I select a page that opens in a new page the page is blank. To sign in here I sign in then have to exit IE and then come back in to post.

Blah...

Please reboot the computer and then run the following

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit from HERE
If needed there is a self help tutorial here: MBAR tutorial

  • Unzip the contents to a folder in a convenient location.
  • Open the folder where the contents were unzipped and run mbar.exe
  • Follow the instructions in the wizard to update and allow the program to scan your computer for threats.
  • Click on the Cleanup button to remove any threats and reboot if prompted to do so.
  • Wait while the system shuts down and the cleanup process is performed.
  • Perform another scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit to verify that no threats remain. If they do, then click Cleanup once more and repeat the process.
  • When done, please post the two logs produced they will be in the MBAR folder... mbar-log.txt and system-log.txt

Please run the TDSSKiller again and post back it's new log.

Then save combofix to a USB stick and copy to the affected computer to run it

Please visit this webpage and read the ComboFix User's Guide:

  • Once you've read the article and are ready to use the program you can download it directly from the link below.
  • Important! - Please make sure you save combofix to your desktop and do not run it from your browser
  • Direct download link for: ComboFix.exe
  • Please make sure you disable your security applications before running ComboFix.
  • Once Combofix has completed it will produce and open a log file.  Please be patient as it can take some time to load.
  • Please attach that log file to your next reply.
  • If needed the file can be located here:  C:\combofix.txt
  • NOTE: If you receive the message "illegal operation has been attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion", just reboot the computer.

Please visit the Microsoft Fixit center and run the following.

How to reset Internet Explorer settings

If running Firefox please do the following:  Please visit this site and restore Firefox back to the factory default settings.
Restore Firefox Default Settings Without Uninstalling It

Please run RKill and then right after please run the ESET repair tool.

RKill is a program that was developed at BleepingComputer.com that attempts to terminate known malware processes
so that your normal security software can then run and clean your computer of infections.
When RKill runs it will kill malware processes and then removes incorrect executable associations and fixes policies
that stop us from using certain tools. When finished it will display a log file that shows the processes that were
terminated while the program was running.

As RKill only terminates a program's running process, and does not delete any files, after running it you should not reboot
your computer as any malware processes that are configured to start automatically will just be started again.
Instead, after running RKill you should immediately scan your computer using the requested scans I've included.

Please download Rkill by Grinler from one of the links below and save it to your desktop.

Link 2

  • On Windows XP double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
  • On Windows Vista/Windows 7 or 8, right-click on the Rkill desktop icon and select Run As Administrator
  • A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
  • If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
  • If it does not work, repeat the process and attempt to use one of the remaining links until the tool runs.
  • If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.
  • Do not reboot the computer, you will need to run the application again.

ESET Services Repair

Please download the ESET services repair from here and save the file to your desktop.
On XP double click to run it.  On Vista/Win7/Win8 please right click and choose "Run as administrator"
Once the tool has finished please restart the computer.

Well for the most part the computer appears to be clean from an actual infection at this point in time, however we could certainly look at stopping a LOT of programs that you have starting up every time the computer starts that are not needed.

If you'd like to do that please let me know.  What you can try for testing is the following.

Click on START and type in MSCONFIG and click OK.

When it comes up set it to Diagnostic startup and then reboot the computer.

That should stop most items from loading and show you a little difference in computer speed.

If that does seem better let me know and we can clean up some - though its nothing to do with an infection.

Don't forget to run MSCONFIG and put it back to Normal startup as MSCONFIG is for diagnostic work not for use as a Startup Manager.

Something like MS AutoRuns can be used for that.

Okay please run the following tool and we'll look at some more clean up for the ESET entries.

Please uninstall ALL versions of Java from the control panel.

If needed you can try this tool to help with removal of Java that is stubborn to remove.

Run JavaRa

  • Please download JavaRa and unzip it in a folder on your desktop.
  • Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
  • Click on Settings and Place a checkmark beside Create a log file. Click on Back.
  • Click on Update JavaRa Definitions. Click on download. When this is done click on Back.
  • Choose Remove JRE, since you already uninstalled Java, please click on Next.
  • Now click on Perform Removal Routine to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
  • When that's succesfully done, please click OK to close the message.
  • Click on Next. Since you already downloaded the latest version of Java, please click on Next.
  • Now click on Close this wizard and click Finish.
  • From the main menu please choose Additional Tasks
  • Place a checkmark beside Remove Outdated JRE Firefox Extentions and click Run. Mozilla Firefox should be closed before running this task.
  • When that's succesfully done you will see a message at the top saying: "Selected tasks completed successfully".
  • A log file should be created in the same directory as JavaRa.
  • Please post the log in your next reply.
  • Close JavaRa by clicking the red cross button.
Please run this and post back the new log after removing all java.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.
