ok - I have reinstalled win7 and everything appears back to normal with regards to Windows itself. So far no blocks.

But, do you have any idea what was the cause of all of these problems. Did I have a virus of some type although everything seemed to say that I did not. What could have caused all of the windows issues that started happening.

Should I consider changing from the Avast anti-virus program to another one?
