It's good that identify the cause. It is better to contact AVG support team, to advise you what to do to solve the problem and to use this firewall.

Let's clean this mess.

Please run OTL and click on CleanUp button. Next, unintall ESET Online Scanner and then manually delte mbam-clean.

Ok, my most humble appologies, but it turned out that it was the AVG Firewall that was stopping the update. I finally managed to update with the firewall down. Normally, AVG asks if I want to allow something through or not, this time it did not. MBAM is finally able to update... as long as the firewall is down. When I put it back up, it gives me the same error.

Yeah... MBAM was blocked in the firewall for some reason, I'm going to have to ask my brother about why it was, but problem fixed. MBAM is up and running with no further problems.

Nevermind AVG. My brother blocked MBAM in the firewall himself. So AVG works fine, it's human error that was the problem.

Well, everything seems fine now, even Windows Update and Defender are working.
