I have the following:

HP Pavilion Elite e9180t Desktop PC

Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit)

I followed the instructions given by the Moderator, Maurice Naggar (Thank you!) and got to the part where I tried to update Word. I selected 7 important updates for Word, but the update failed with the following error:

Code 80246007 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

I do not see the 80246007 within the extract of the W U log. Rather, it indicates that downloaded/updates are ready for installation.

Logoff the system, and follow the prompts carefully. Allow update items to be processed.

IF this is a notebook, make sure it is connected to wall-electric-power or a UPS system.
