Well, I'm stumped. I followed your instructions as I understand them. Disabled my antivirus program. Entered license inf and get the message: "StartService) Falied to perform error code 7075
Enable Protection Mode- same error
Also noted is there is no MBAM icon in the notification area.
Any thoughts besides reformatting the hard drive and starting over?
I was ready to uninstall my anti virus program but the error message appear when it is disabled so I assume that's the same.

Thanks.
I tried to edit my post but didn't find the edit function.
Before I got back here, I Googled for the problem and DID find the mbam-clean.exe which I downloaded. I uninstalled MBAM and ran the clean program and got the message : "Failed to delete MBAM Protector. Error code 1072.
I reinstalled MBAM and all seemed well but when I entered my license info "(Start service) Failed to perform desired action error code 1075
Tried to enable protection module error code same 1075 error.
I was unaware of disabling my anti virus software so I'll try that.
Thanks again.

Good morning all.
I was greeted with error messages this morning and have attempted to resolve them myself but I failed.
Malwarebytes Antimalware 1.5 Pro
Windows XP SP3
I see the Protection Disabled bar and when I attempt to enable it, I get the message " (create service) Failed to perform Error Code 1072"
Click on Scheduler, same message.
Here's what I tried- Installed MBAM over itself and get the same message.
Uninstalled MBAM and attempted to remove every remnant of it and reinstalled BUT my license info still shows and the error messages are the same.
Didn't have much luck with your search process but if someone can direct me to it, I would really appreciate it.
I don't seem to be able to remove MBAM completely. Meanwhile, I have no malware protection.
Thanks

Looking good here too.

Thanks for the info. Most appreciated.
I just installed it, ran an update and am now scanning.
I'll get into the new beta in a few minutes.

I am getting a new PC (Windows 7) How do transfer the license to the new PC ?
Thank you for your input.
What I did was just type in the license info on a new install od MBAM and voila!
Make sure you only use that license on one computer.

Happy Birthday
Thanks all. This was a very pleasant surprise.

The Icon only appears in the system tray for the Pro version and not on the free version.
Well, DUH!
Thanks Firefox, that explains it.
I have 3 paid versions and 2 Free.
Gotta wait for another sale.B)

Windows XP Home
MBAM Free and Paid versions
I find that having the Malwarebytes AntiMalware icon in the notification area is very convenient but on some of my computers I can't seem to get it there.
Any trick to doing this?
Thanks

Please try this on the computer that is having an issue.
1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
2. Restart your computer (very important).
3. Download and run this utility. mbam-clean.exe
4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).
5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here. mbam-setup.exe
Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent
Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray and that you can run a quick scan and all is working as expected.
Thanks very much.
I'll give it a try.

Haven't seen it for a while but it was coming up at almost very boot up.

I am not sure what to do if you do not have a mobile phone but I googled "face book mobile verification" and I saw a few sites there that proported to tell you how to get around it.
As to it just being on the MBAM page then it probably was a glitch though FB has been attacked by people trying to add malicious things to it!
I don't know buit I am happy now.
Problem is I am father and mother now as well as lawn mower, dish washer, laundry expert and haven't had time to spend on Facebook.
Just joined it on Friday, I believe.
Thanks all.

Is this the fan page you tried to join?
It was this:

Face book started asking for you to verify via a mobile number a while ago, possibly 6+ months that I remember.
If you did and you had a new account then you had to enter a capcha code of two words everytime you posted on a wall or in a group.
I did that for a awhile then gave in and verified it via my mobile number and I have never gotten any kind of spam or texts off them, all they did was send you a code that you input into your account to verify it was you.
I think they started doing this when they launched facebook mobile so whether you wanted to or not they made you reg your mobile with them.
Well. this was just for placing a comment to the Malwarebytes things on MY Facebook page (see screen capture). I was sent a numerical code such as 345-89 but it always told me that the code was invalid.
Needless to say, I threw up my hands and gave up.
I really did it to push Malwarebytes because I would like to see it on every computer. Of course, just having it installed doesn't help- one must use it.

I wonder if this could be an external application (like the various quiz/surveys that seem to be created mainly by 12 year olds) that is asking for your cell number?
I've done a quiz like this...I think it was "how dumb are you" or "what is your IQ" or some such.
The cellphone access code - which worked, by the way- turned out to simply be a marketing ploy for an expensive text-based notifications system. I'd recieved and read (and paid for) three texts before working our how to disable the notifications, which (fortunately) worked.
Reading the privacy terms and conditions that came with the form to enter the cell number contained that information. (I think it was buried in line 78, through 125. )
So be careful what you agree to.
Regarding this particular group, I've just joined the Facebook group titled "Malwarebytes 'Anti-Malware Fans" and was not asked to provide a phone number, nor anything else. This group has 69 members.
Sounds like you were on the wrong page or site completely.
Well guys this is perplexing. Yes, it's got to be the real Facebook. I am communicating with my nieces, friends, my dog's groomer, etc.
Let's drop this for now. I've been extremely busy the last few days. When I get the chance, I will sign up as a fan again and if I get the same messages, I will get the screen shots and post them here.
Thanks very much for your comments. Wish I could understand what was happening.
-
or Can you post a screenshot?
I cannot post a screen shot because I cannot be a fan of Malwarebytes. I deleted that category and can't seem to get it back. I imagine that Malwarebytes requested that feature because I can comment on anything else in Facebook. What gripes me is that I am typing in the exact coce that I receive in my text message. I what is so hard about XXX-XX?
If I get get that fan thing back, I can show a screen shot. It's just a narrow box asking fo the code. If you proceed on, you type in your cell number, in comes the code by text message and you type the code in a space provided--not brain surgery.
-
Facebook should not be asking for your phone number AT ALL.
Can you post the URL to the page requesting it please?
Good day to you and thanks for the replies. I'm new to Facebook so bear with me.
I cannot post a screen shot because I deleted Malwarebytes from Face book but I will tell you what happened. Haven't figured out how to get it back
I tried to post to a Malwarebytes subject on my Facebook page. So, I typed in my message and pushed the button. I then got a message that I must verify my account. When I finally understood what it wanted, it was my cellphone number. I was able to get my hands on a cellphone and typed in the phone number. It then sent me a code which I had to type in a box it was like this: 123-34. Facebook rejected the code saying "incorrect confirmation code". I tried again and it sent me the same code which, of course, was incorrect. Trying for the final time, it gave me a message saying, sorry Charlie, you have asked for a code too many times.
I guess I just can't be a fan but it was interesting while it lasted.
-
can you start/open another account? I have a cellphone, but I now don't recall if they wanted the no. and I didn't give it anyway.
Couldn't figure out how to edit my post.
Let me clarify my post. I joined as a Malwarebytes friend or whatever they are called. Comments are now all over my Facebook page but when I go to comment on what they say, face book asks me to verify my account. Turns out they send code to your cellphone and then you type this code into a little box on Facebook. I guess this is a just Malwarebytes thing because I have never been asked before.
I suppose posting on Malwarebytes subjects is for the well to do but not for me.
