  1. I believe that "malware" is a plural word. I am having an argument with coworker who believes "malwares" is the correct plural form of "malware".

I can't find anywhere on the internet with a write up on this topic. Does anyone else know of one? I need to prove my case

    Thanks

That is one nasty piece of MALWARE; The internet sites are inundated with MALWARE. One or a hundred; all the same..

  2. Funny joke :)

BUT not such a bad idea perhaps! Computer keyboards are meant to be about the buggiest things one comes in contact with apparently (according to my esteemed microbiology prof). Right up there with the handles of supermarket trollies. Nasty stuff! :)

The public telephone! How many times have you had to clean earwax out of the receiver so you could hear?? When I used to work and before we had cheap cellphones or company radios I used to carry a can of Lysol to spray on phones before answering my beeper.. (Now that I've had cellphones for years, all I have to clean out is my wife's makeup.. on the screen; in the earpiece) :)

  3. I would like to see that. :)

Our cat goes crazy trying to catch the mouse pointer on the LCD display - she has more fun with that (free) than the damned laser pointer ($5) I got for her to purposely chase the dot around.

  4. Shy, is it true that you in America have enormous meals? 'Cause it's really getting on my nerves that you have to order like several dishes in Finland(when eating outside) :)

America is a funny place when it comes to food, my friend. The more the meal costs, the less food on the plate. *true story*! And the more famous and inventive/experimental/nouvelle-cuisine the chefs, the smaller the restaurants, the bigger the plates (the "canvas") and the smallest of portions of food and sauce (the art). Whereas one can go to a home-cooking type place or a BBQ joint or pasta place or similar and get enough food to choke you (and the horse one rides in on) for a VERY reasonable price. :)

  5. I've discovered that many italian opera singers have same names than pasta brands in Finland :)

I always get hungry when hearing opera :)

I dabble in cooking.. kind of a hobby for past 30 years or so. I make a *MEAN* pasta dish with a RDX white sauce.. It'll blow those hunger pains right out of you, Finland, and half way to Sweden. :) :) :) :)

As a side note; it looks like lots of those Italian opera singers EAT a bun'cha Pasta; five meals a day.. When they mention the FAT lady singing they aren't making hyperbole. :)

(the dog isn't sure what's happening... *grin*)

  6. Thanks for the replies.

I'm still looking for an answer to this:

Do I need a firewall program when I already have Windows Firewall(as default in XP) and modem/router firewall?

Well; the window's firewall only works in ONE direction, not both.. As for the router, unless it says it has a firewall built in (hardwire or software), it doesn't.

I'm not the sharpest toothpick on the dining room table so that's the extent of my knowledge. (*crap*) Gotta go cut up the whole chicken so the wife can work on supper.. back in a little while.

  7. Hi buddys,

I was reading your posts about antivir programs etc and decided to ask you for help about my security programs.

    [...]

Thanks so much in advance, I really appreciate your kind act :)

    Congrats on HONORARY MEMBERSHIP!

As for a firewall, I've used/tried-to-use quite a few but downloaded the free version of ONLINE ARMOR a few days ago.... liked the ease of set-up, auto-learn mode, etc, so much I bought the company.. errrr.. ahhh.. bought the Pro Version - 25% off until the end of the month. Play with the FREE version and in a couple of days, it'll pop-up the discount offer for the registered, Pro version.

  9. Uh, what is that device?

    From the trade show verbiage

The Golden-i head-mounted computer by Kopin features a virtual 15-inch laptop screen that can be controlled by voice commands. The head-mounted device has a six-axis head tracker, 800 MHz computer processor, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connectivity and a micro SD memory port. The company is currently selling developer kits for the Golden-i. Motorola is expected to manufacture the product within the next year.

Not unless you want to take the place of the dog.. :)

  11. Well support for XP SP3 does end April 2014, so just keep that in mind everyone.

I've run ever version of Windows since 1.0 (DOS 6 earlier) except WinSERVER and I got my free copy of WinXP while at a M$ Event in Ft. Lauderdale right before watching the planes go into the twin towers on Sept 11. I ran that copy (on 3 successive computers) with all updates until I got a new computer (dual core/32bit) in Dec, 2007 that had Vista on it. I never had a problem with using Vista and its UAC and didn't even consider downgrading it to WinXP.. I got my wife a dual core Dell x64 in 2009 that had Vista on it but a free upgrade to Win7. I took advantage of the free upgrade and she is running Win7 64 bit and I'm currently running Vista Home Premium 32 updated this AM. I don't use a lot of the fancy graphic stuff on Vista and my speed is acceptable. I agree; WinXP was a comfortable friend; especially after WinME and such; but time and technology moves on. :)

  12. I'd rather take a gun to my head. :)

FYI; you just gotta know that's gonna hurt.. I love animals but shooting the dog is a sacrifice I'm willing to make - we'd hate to lose you - In fact, I tend to piss off so many people with my "humor" that people willing to "talk" with me are priceless.. So; com'on; let the dog take the bullet?? I don't have that many people around that will tolerate me. :) :) :)

  13. Finally after 6 months of trying a google search finds something anything about malwarebytes educational licensing. Where is the licensing policy? I am just trying to find out if malwarebytes is free for educational use or if I need to purchase it? I've even tried the quote form dozens of times, but no one has ever responded.
Activating the full version unlocks realtime protection, scheduled scanning, and scheduled updating. For consumers and personal use, it is a one time fee of $24.95. For corporate and business customers, annual licenses are required, please see our Corporate Licensing program.

NOT a MALWAREBYTE employee but I read the other messages in this thread.

  14. Hello Shy Writer. To be honest you are probably better off reverting back to 3.5.8 in preference to 3.6.0 if you are having scripting problems with version 3.6.2. The reason for the recent update from 3.6.0 to 3.6.2 was a nasty zero day exploit in 3.6.0. Details about this can be found here: http://blog.mozilla.com/security/

Version 3.5.8 is not affected by this exploit.

I'm about ready to go B O O M ! !. I did all that stuff last night; computer became unstable enough I had to revert to a SYSTEM RESTORE and I wound up accidentally re-installing 3.6.0 which after doing a full system scan with all my programs this AM, FireFox promptly decided to install the 3.6.2 update again. (I've since unchecked the update box where it just downloads and installs updates without asking) To make a long story, short; Whatever was happening before in the message editor is now working like it should - with 3.6.2 ;) Enough to drive a grown man to Obama's health care plan. :):D (I'm apolitical; it's a joke - I don't do political, religion or abortion discussions - period)

Thanks catscomp' - and all the others that helped with advice and download links... MUCH appreciated! :D

    Regards,

    Shy
