Thank you, didn't know this was a thing. This fixed the issue!

I started up Gary's mod today and was going to try and play with a friend. I went to connect to their server and when I started to send client info the game crashed. Malwarebytes said in the bottom that it blocked hl.exe. When I tried to start it through steam it said I didn't have permissions. I also tried to exclude the file from Malwarebytes and it said I don't have permissions for the file. I have tried to force over permission and exclude the folder from detection. Nothing is working and I don't know what to do.
