  1. Thank you. I am continuing to run with MB on the Windows 7, but need something more reliable for the XP (my go-to machine). So, I'm giving Norton a try. Turning off self-protection sounds scary. I'm guessing this is a temporary fix. Good luck to you and all of the users, here, that you are attempting to help.
  2. Yes, I realize that you and Firefox are volunteering your expertise, here, which is why I've tried to express my gratitude and appreciation, both in this and the other thread in which I posted. But in case you missed that, please allow me to once, again, say thank you. Still, it wasn't nice to "shout" at me. After today, this will all be a moot point. I've decided to delete all of the Malwarebytes files from my computer and go with Norton, instead. Again, thank you for trying to help, but, weekend or not, it is Malwarebytes' responsibility to be on top problems with their products.
  3. Thanks. My early start setting is already off. Still, I'm thinking that the software should be able to run even with those setting turned on, so I'd like to see MB take some responsibility for fixing this rather than just shutting down features and then calling it a closed issue. Glad that you are up and running, again. Thanks for sharing your experience!
  4. YAY! It worked this time!! Again, I'll understand if you don't want to help any further. I am truly grateful for all that you have done. Have a good night! mb-check-results.zip
  5. @Firefox First want to let you know that I finally heard from Adam V. regarding my ticket. He told me to do just as you suggested - to manually download and install MB 3.2.2.2018. I replied and told him I did that and that I have subsequent issues in not being able to launch Mozilla Firefox or 3 other applications that run with Adobe Air. I will understand if you don't want to bother trying to help me any further. After all, Malwarebytes really should be taking responsibility for this. Nevertheless, I did run the tools as you suggested. When I tried to upload the mb-check zip file, it froze my computer entirely. I wasn't able to close my browser and Alt-Ctrl-Del wouldn't even pop up for me to ask it to shut this down. I ended up having to unplug and remove the battery from my computer, then reboot. I'm going to try to attach the zip file, again, but think I'll post this message, first and then try to attach the file in a reply. If it crashes my computer, again, I don't want to have to retype all of this. I just seem to be going from bad to worse, here. Fingers crossed... _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ please perform the steps below and then post your results in its own topic (start a new topic/post) so we don't interfere with the original poster here.... Let's try and get some logs first so the team can review them and see if they can tell what may be causing your issues.... FIRST: Create and obtain Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) logs Download FRST and save it to your desktop NOTE: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer Press the "Scan" button This will product two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt NOTE: These two files will be collected by the MB-Check Tool and added to the zip file for you NEXT: Create and obtain an mb-check log Download MB-Check and save to your desktop Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, then click "OK" This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area Thank You, Firefox
  6. Dear Firefox, Well, I did as you suggested and completely uninstalled Mozilla Firefox, then downloaded and installed a fresh copy. I am still unable to launch my browser, and Mozilla is even unable to send a problem report. To make matters worse, I've discovered that Mozilla is not the only software that will no longer run. I've got at least 3 other applications that are being blocked from opening. I am at my wits end, and I still haven't heard back regarding the original ticket that I submitted. Do you (or anyone else, here) happen to know if there is a way that I can uninstall this Malwarebytes update and then reinstall the version that I had on my machine before this debacle? Thanking you in advance for any suggestions that you may be able to offer.
  7. I understand completely and respect your integrity. I am grateful for the acknowledgement that I should have additional protection for back-up purposes and will do a bit of research as to what may still be available for the XP. Again, I appreciate your assistance!
  8. Oh, that is excellent information. Thank you very much; I didn't realize this would be the case. I'll log back onto the XP and give that a whirl. Thank you, again, for the wonderful support. This forum is exceedingly helpful!
  9. Thank you, Firefox and Porthos. I was able to download MB from that link, using Mozilla Firefox to connect to the Internet. It appears to have downloaded, correctly, and I ran a scan; not threats found. However, Firefox will no longer run. I used Chrome (now unsupported on XP) to download/install a new copy of Firefox, but it still keep crashing when I try to launch it. I'm sure this Firefox problem is related to the reinstall of the new MB product, but don't know how to fix it. Not having a good computer day, here. Porthos - I will download Defender on this Windows 7 laptop. Thanks for the recommendation. There is no longer an option for the XP. Too bad; that XP machine has been more reliable for me than any of the newer Windows machines that I've used.
  10. Thank you very much. I will do as you suggest - and hold my breath that I don't encounter any viruses, etc., when I access the internet to download the file. This has me wondering whether I should have some other security program on my laptops as backup. Will look into that once I get MB safely back in place. Thanks, again. I appreciate your help!
  11. Yes. This happened to me. I just sent a ticket. I'm not tech savvy, so glad to hear that this may be a product issue rather than a malicious attack. Can you tell me how I can safely get the product back on my machine? I don't have any other protection on that machine, now, and am afraid of using it to connect to the Internet. I'm using another laptop right now - and, oddly, I didn't get a product update notice when I just logged in with this machine. Thanks for any advice you may be able to offer. Little old lady, here, with not much technical expertise. Sigh...
  12. Thank you very much for your prompt reply! I did as you recommended and the problem appears to be resolved. After installing the latest product I ran a scan (no threats found), then shut down and restarted my laptop. All appears to be well. I now have the following items on my desktop. Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I can safely delete these, or whether I should save any of them? FRST - an application, I think FRST - a Notepad document Addition - a Notepad document mb-check-3.1.5.1001- an application, I think mb-check-results - a zip folder mb-clean-3.1.0.1014- an application, I think mb-clean-results - a Notepad document mb-licenseinfo - a Notepad document Thank you, again, for your assistance!
  13. I am running Malwarebytes Premium 3.1.2 on Windows XP. I have an alert that Updates are not current. Clicking the "Check for Updates" button does nothing. On the "Protection" tab for Settings, the "Automatically check for updates" toggle will not toggle to "on." On the "Application" tab for Setings, the "Automatically download and install application component updates" toggle keeps toggling back to "off." I've run a scan (no threats identified) and rebooted. Problem persisted. I ran a scan including rootkit (no threats identified) and rebbooted. Problem persists. Sometimes (not always) when I power up, I receive a message about protection layers being turned off and I need to click the button to turn them on. This is happening both on the XP and on a Windows 7. I am attaching the requisite files for the XP. I would be grateful for help. I have very little computer literacy, so explicit, detailed instructions would be much appreciated. Thank you! FRST.txt Addition.txt mb-check-results.zip
