  1. When an update to Malwarebytes becomes available, it would be nice if the user was given more information before updating. When an update becomes available it's standard for well-written software to provide the user with: - the version number of the release they're currently running, - the version number of the new release, and - access to release notes so that the user can determine what will change with the new update and all before the update is applied and without the user having to go information-hunting outside the update process. I think that would be a nice and helpful addition to Malwarebytes. As it is now, Malwarebytes informs me that there's an update available and allows me to chose whether to update, but that's it - without the aforementioned information-hunting I have no idea what version I'm running, what version I'll be updating to, nor what will change. Thanks!
  2. When I click on "Check for Updates," the exclamation point disappears for a moment, to be replaced by a green check, only to be replaced by the exclamation point again. I have not been able to update the protection since July. Thoughts?
  3. None of my computers can update or access the Malwarebytes license server. Are the servers down? Thanks!
  4. A few days ago I restarted my computer before a long time without re-starting it (like 1 week with the pc on) and I noticed that "Explorer.exe" was requesting to initialize, but the real explorer.exe task was already running... I said no but then I checked the directory of the file and the system said that the file was on %windir%/resources/themes, well going into folder to check if the file exists I noticed that theres nothing more than aero themes in this folder. So did a scan in the folder using malwarebytes and it recognized svchost.exe malware and explorer.exe, before adding they do quarentine I wanted to check why the files didnt apeared, so I enabled "show hidden folders" in explorer (the real one, from microsoft) and it changed nothing, well, so I tried to open the archive by going with %windir%/resources/themes/explorer.exe in the explorer path, it worked, but I still uncapable of seeing this file... So I started CMD as admin and did " cd " to %windir%/resources/themes and did " dir " inside the folder, as I expected the dir shows the same as explorer, but appeared 2 new items that the was named as " . " and " .. " I deleted both sucessfully. Searching for this in internet I found that there's an other way to hide files in windows, that was adding them to" important system files or protected system files" list, and following the instructions to disable this privilege, I finally could see the archives, well, I added them to the quarentine list and continued using my computer since yesterday that I realized that everytime malwarebytes send two addwares to quarentine (I left the results of scan in the post as "Annoying addware.txt") they come back right after I finish the task... When trying to solve these issues I realized many things... 1- I cant use commands as DISM, sfc /scannow, windows update, windows defender( I will let write happens when i try to use them bellow this part) , net start/stop wuauserv (the wuauserv service doesnt even exists in registry, I didnt checked windows defender one...) 2- there was a folder called QEMU hidden with the "important system files" method, I deleted all content Inside and then deleted the folder after taking out the folder privilegies 3- Theres two "program" files in "Inicialize" section of task manager wich I cant go to proprieties ( I dropped the print down on anexed files named as "Program" unknow files) When I try to use with /checkhealth everything go fine, but when I try to use dism with /restorehealth it stops at 87,5% and gives an error 1060 messages saying " the specified service does not exist as an installed service " ( I left the DISM log file right bellow named as DISM.txt ) When I try to use sfc /scannow it says that cannot fix all issues When i try to use windows update it says that my organizations disable windows updates ( ? ) When I try windows defender it just goes black screen on the window Well, it would be great if someone could help me, I dont really want to re-install windows... I would take a month to setup my pc again Also, I run Windows 10 Pro 64bits, version 1809... dism.log Annoying Adware.txt Rkill.txt FRST.txt Addition.txt

  7. Today MBAM started showing a message that there's a new version available. The problem is i click install, MBAM closes itself but nothing happens. How do i install the new version? My current version is 3.6.1.2711
  8. Lately I have been getting notifications that the 2 databases (malware and phishing URLs) are out of date. When I press the update database button nothing happens. Can anyone help me with this please?
  9. Well, I've got some bad news. After turning on self-protection and restarting my computer, the tray disappeared again. And I have the latest version too.
  10. Hi, I just started on old pc with vista on which I had MBW premium installed, now version 3.5.1. Wheras usually when I start the pc MWB automatically starts updating today the icon warning remains : Updates: out of date When I click on Check for updates the icon turns for 2 seconds, and that's it. Now having the pc run for an hour, the updating which always started automatically, did not start. Any ideas ? TIA
  11. After being prompted to download the latest version I click through, the download starts and zips through the progress bar, then ends and the message says, "Unable to Download, check your Internet connection." My connection is fine, a 75/75 FIOS.
  12. It's telling me my updates are not current but each time I hit "check for updates" it checks for half a second then goes back to "check for updates"...? Kind of irritating, I'd like to get this updated. I've power cycled and that didn't work so I'm not sure what my next option would be.
  13. I have 3 computers at home. I have MalwareBytes Premium on all. When I tried to download the "update" (included new program) it deleted my MalwareBytes on all three including the dashboard and my account, and I was forced to download the 14 day trial of premium. After two days of searching I finally found the key so that I'm registered again. Once that was done, I tried to open my password manager and my LastPass account was no longer accepting my user name and password. After another hour or so I was able to open LastPass and found that it was suddenly EMPTY. I don't have that backed up but, thankfully, I also had BitWarden installed on one of the computers so I could access my password list from there. The simple act of updating cost me nearly 3 hours total to fix everything it had screwed up. I can understand one of the systems getting screwy from an update but when all three have the exact same problem then it's a problem with Malwarebytes and their coding. The Malware support program would have been useless since the update wiped all of the old files and program and I could hardly download and install it until I had Malwarebytes re-installed. Has anyone else had the joy of trying to figure out what Malware screwed up? Why would this happen to all three?
  14. Today my Malwarebytes said it needed to update but whenever I tried clicking "check for updates" it wouldn't find and download the latest version. So I first tried simply uninstalling it, going to the web site and downloading it again so I have the latest version. I should note that it took a few attempts to download as it kept failing and I had to hit retry so the download would continue where it left off till it eventually finished. After it had downloaded I activated my premium account and at first that seem to work but about five minutes later it told me it was out of date again. So I tried uninstalling it again this time using the MB-check tool provided here It uninstalled Malwarebytes, restarted my PC but then kept failing to download the latest version of the Malwarebytes. So I had to go back to the website and download it from there which again required me to click retry a few times. Once it had installed and reactivated my premium account (thanks to MB-check doing it automatically) that seem to do the trick. However after a few minutes I checked it and it says I'm out of date again. I don't believe it's my internet connection that's stopping me downloading the latest version as I had no trouble downloading the MB-check. I also loaded up my Steam Client, connected online to my account and updated three games without any issues. So, is there a bug in the most recent version that is either: A) Mistakenly thinking it's out of date? B) Not letting us downloading it? If you need any extra info just let me know and I'll try my best to answer any questions.
  15. Exploit version not updating on Management Console, I am currently on 1.08.2.1012. I need to get it up to: 1.12.2.68 My Management Console appears to need an update as well. Version 1.7.0.3208 I need to get it up to: 1.8.0.3443
  16. Hi! So, my malwarebytes was just updated to a new version, but I cannot find anything online about this version, so is it new or a glitch. The version is 3.3.22. I am also on the free one as I am unable to get the premium quite yet. After this update, instead of free, I got trial, which seemed quite weird to me. I've shut down my laptop and turned it back on and it's still the same. Does anyone else have this version? I have a panic and paranoia disorder, hence why I'm asking and trying to stay calm.
  17. Hello, I just updated to MB 3.4.5 FREE on Windows 7. I have a mbamtray.exe process running but no taskbar icon. I also have Norton Security. Should I have a taskbar icon? Thanks
  18. Over past 10 days or so, I've noticed that I can't get database updates on Malwarebytes Premium What may be the reason? P.S. Just for any case: I'm located in Moscow, Russia
  19. I was informed of a new update and after downloading, I noticed that I had been downgraded to a premium trial. I tried reentering my access code, however, it just notifies me that my "usage level has exceeded the maximum installations allowed." Is there anything I can do to remediate this issue?
  20. Windows 10 update leaves a problem report file for Malwarebyte developers, before the user log in screen there is a pop up that tells me there is a problem with Malwarebytes and the following file should be sent to the developers. Last update Malwarebytes disappeared from my start menu and running mb3-set up file caused it to reappear and its working again (it wasnt starting). Everything seems to be running at the moment just the windows issue report. Anyway an update happened today and the message reappeared and a new dmp file was created - its attached dated 11th April (as is the previous report dump from 9th April 2018) so have at it Malwarebytes! BitDefender Threat Scanner.dmp BitDefender Threat Scanner.dmp
  21. Hi, I received an update alert from malwarebytes when trying to use malwarebytes to scan a file, so I let it update, it then notified me that a restart was required. It has been stuck on the "getting Windows ready do not turn of your computer" grey screen for the last 20 minutes, what should I do? Windows 10 Enterprise server.
  22. Lately MBAM has become more obnoxious popping up nag boxes to upgrade. If I clicked "no" to this 14 days in a row, why would I will click "yes" on day 15? But putting that aside for a second, I was informed that a new version needs to be downloaded and installed. In other programs this happens seamlessly. In MBAM, I click 'agree and install', it attempts a fresh installation of the whole program, and immediately I get a long error about "could not overwrite mbam.exe"... now, I'm aware of what's happening, it doesn't have permission to shut down and overwrite the main MBAM process, which is currently running. I know enough about computers to deal with it. But a lot of people will just be confused, my parents or grandparents won't know what that error means or what do with it, so they won't upgrade. After being around 12 years, how do you not predict this obvious problem with the installation, and figure out a way to ensure it doesn't happen, instead of just leaving the user to click ok to a confusing error dialogue with no further hints? Maybe this is a lot of complaining to do for a free product, but if you want any hope of getting money from me, I have to know the program will not be intrusive, and that updates will go 100% smoothly, otherwise it's worth what I'm currently paying.
  23. MB has refused to work since about 1st March 2012. Task Manager shows MBservices is hanging on starting and MBAM is not shown st all. MBAM.exe won't run at all and refuses to be uninstalled. I was hoping an uninstall/reinstall would solve the problem but now don't know what to do. Please can anybody help? I am using Windows 10 version 1709 (build 16299.309) on an Intel based PC
  24. Error message says "Download Failed. Check Internet connection and try again." My Internet connection is okay however.
  25. I am currently using 1.12.1.43 on windows 8 and the automatic updates are not working, I am having to manually check for updates on the forum. I have just had to manually update to build 56 and that was only after I checked the forum myself. Thanks As an idea is it worth adding a separate process that checks for updates or creating a scheduled task.
