Had the same issue, and read the advice over several times. Want to thank you for writing the advice so clearly and comprehensively. I was able to skip the uninstall part. I just downloaded the update (exe file) from the link to my desktop. Then clicked on mbam-setup-2.0.2.1012.exe, and all the rest was smooth sailing. The program took care of the uninstall and install, and Outpost Firewall popped up during process, and I gave MBAM server privileges to listen at a port and have access. Thank you
