  1. Yardbird,

Did you have a Limited User Account logged in when you ran this scan?

Your logs say there are multiple accounts and some of them are LUA's:

    Administrator (S-1-5-21-2617283567-942523685-3495000968-500 - Administrator - Disabled)
    Deb (S-1-5-21-2617283567-942523685-3495000968-1003 - Limited - Enabled) => C:\Users\Deb
    Ed (S-1-5-21-2617283567-942523685-3495000968-1000 - Administrator - Enabled) => C:\Users\Ed
    Guest (S-1-5-21-2617283567-942523685-3495000968-501 - Limited - Disabled) => C:\Users\Guest
    HomeGroupUser$ (S-1-5-21-2617283567-942523685-3495000968-1002 - Limited - Enabled)
  2. hatie,

When one thing doesn't work, we try another.   :)

    Please try the following:

    1. Ensure MBAM is not running.
    2. Download the attached net.conf file. net.zip
    3. Extract the file.
    4. Place the net.conf file into the following directory and have it replace the existing one:
      C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\Configuration
    5. Open MBAM.

Give this a shot and let us know if this helps!

  3. Simnix,

I want to analyze your logs a bit because you may have messed with your scheduler.

As firefox pointed out earlier, your last triggered/scheduled/nextscheduled value looks like it's set to the future... September 6th.

    lastscheduled:                                       Sat, 06 Sep 2014 13:05:39.726993 +0100
    lasttriggered:                                       Sat, 06 Sep 2014 13:05:39.726993 +0100
    nextscheduled:                                       Sat, 06 Sep 2014 14:09:03.726993 +0100

Additionally, it says you created your scheduled update on July 09, 2014

    start:                                               Wed, 09 Jul 2014 18:24:33.773728 +0100

In order to see if scheduled updates are working, did you manually change the system time for your computer?
  4. Hello again sng119,

I've got some bad news.  The crash dump you have given us doesn't seem to have information we need.  I will need you to do the following for me:

    1. Open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM).
    2. Click on the "Update Now" button on the dashboard.
    3. Wait for MBAM to crash (Show the "A problem has caused the program to stop working").
    4. Take a screenshot or copy the information from this window.
    5. You may need to click on "View Details" in order to see this information.  It should be on the bottom left of that window.
    6. See example: Var0h.png
    7. Open Windows Task Manager (Press CTRL + ALT + Esc)
    8. Click on the Details Tab in Task Manager.
    9. Locate the process that crashed from the error window (In this case it should be MBAM.exe).
    10. Right click on that process and select "Create Dump File" post-119961-0-12385300-1407953508_thumb.
    11. The file location will be displayed for that memory dump.
    12. Please upload that memory dump in the same box.com location I've given you in the past.

Please let me know if there are any problems or if the instructions are unclear.

  5. clone1612,

    Hello and  :welcome:

Now I see you have issues with MBAM on startup.  If you see malwarebytes crash again, afterwards could you please do the following?  This is very important that you follow these instructions when getting a crash dump for your problem.

    1. Do not close the error message:
      post-170896-0-99496000-1407573184.jpg
    2. Start Task Manager. To do this, use one of the following methods:
      • Right-click an empty area of the task bar, and then click Start Task Manager.
      • Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
    3. Click the Processes tab.
    4. Right-click the name of the process that you want (mbam.exe), and then click Create Dump File.

      SecurityShield.jpg
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.

A dump file for the process is created in the following folder:
      Drive:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp
    5. When you receive a message that states that the dump file was successfully created, click OK.
    6. Afterwards, you can close the windows error message from step 1.

I'm requesting this once more just in case this happens again.  I've already submitted the first memory dump to our developers.  Keep us posted!

  6. ForestElf,

Thank you very much for your cooperation with us.  Could you please try the following:

    1. Ensure you have MBAM installed.
    2. Ensure you have "Enable self-protection module" unchecked under the Advanced Settings tab.
    3. Run the following tool: http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mbam_clean
    4. Allow your computer to reboot when prompted.
    5. Reinstall MBAM: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/
    6. At the end of your installation, please ensure Start Trial and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware are unchecked.
    7. Run the net.conf replacement tool: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/152047-what-to-do-runtime-error-database-stuck-on-20140304-program-stopped/
    8. Additional Note:  Please be sure to run the net.conf replacement tool as Administrator!
    9. Run the mbam-check tool: http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mbam_check
    10. Attach the logs here.
    11. Attach copies of all the configuration files from this folder: %ProgramData%\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\Configuration
    12. Open MBAM for the first time after reinstallation and net.conf replacement.

I know it's a lot but please give this a try.

  7. Hello Jessica,

I'm sorry to hear you are still having issues.  We need to collect some information for our developers.

    Please do the following:

    1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc simultaneously.
    2. Click the Show processes from all users button to gain administrative rights for the Task Manager.
    3. Right-click "mbam.exe".
    4. Select Create Dump File from the context menu.
    5. After the dump file is created, you will be informed about location of the file (e.g. C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Temp\<process_name>.DMP).
    6. Please attach the file in this thread.
  8. Hello fivealive,

We have looked at your issue and have not been able to replicate.  I hope you don't mind trying a few things for me to see if we can alleviate your issue.

    Please do the following:

    1. If MBAM is installed, do not uninstall it.
    2. Ensure the "Enable self-protection module" checkbox in Advanced Settings is unchecked.
    3. Download and run the mbam-clean tool: http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mbam_clean
    4. Reinstall MBAM 2.0.2.1012: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/
    5. Reactivate MBAM with your ID/Key.
    6. See if you still have the same issue.
  9. You can try 2 things for now:

This happened due to a False Positive on the database version v2014.07.26.09.  If you have the latest database v2014.07.27.02, you should not encounter this error.

  10. Jessica,

Just to be sure, did you attempt the net.conf work around from this link posted earlier in the thread?

This is from the linked post:

If you are unable to update Malwarebytes Anti-Malware's database, please follow the steps below :

1: Download our netconf replacement tool from the link below

    https://malwarebytes...m3mzl3f7eyl.zip

2: Unzip the zip file to Extract the "Net Conf Fix" folder on your desktop.

3: Once extracted, open the Net Conf Fix folder.

4: Double click on the net-replacement.bat file. If you are using Windows Vista or higher, please **right-click** the net-replacement.bat file and click Run as Administrator from the menu.

5: After the tool has run, please do a Logoff >> Shutdown >> Restart for a new Windows session.

Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and click Update Now

If you are unsure how to extract the contents of the .zip folder, please see this tutorial from Microsoft:
