  1. Wow when I had MBAM on my system before and had it check EVERYTHING it was at like 1 million plus files and 17 hours and was still going....wow
  2. So check this out...would like some input....Avira found this.... what do you think? Waiting on them to see if false positive. Virus or unwanted program 'TR/Trash.Gen [trojan]' detected in file 'C:\Windows\System32\regsvr32.exe. Action performed: Allow access
  3. As instructed in a previous post I am posting here. I cannot install Malwarebytes AntiMalware as I recevie 3 errors. The first is a vbAcellerator error and second it titled as malwarebytes antimalware error ( I have attached both errors in zip files) and there is also an error I recevie in a C: prompt pop up window. It happens very fast 3 times, and beeps on each one. Now this is hard to catch but i will also add a picture of the same error in a different instance. The different instance being a suggestion from microsoft. Found at this site for more information on it to see what I am doing. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/249873 BUT the short version of that site is to do this: For example, to manually register a Sample.ocx ActiveX control, type the following command at command prompt: c:\regsvr32.exe sample.ocx The above I cannot do either and it gives me the exact same error as when I try to install MBAM. The error has regsvr32 in the title bar and reads This program cannot be run in DOS mode. I also get all these exact errors and beeps on MBAM uninstall. Also, the error I am having with the MBAM install I have been having for almost a month now to no avail. AND when I tried to install Avira (to use for your familiarity) I got a BIG FAT ERROR says that my C:\System\regsvr is a Virus....so I did not complete or take any action but apparently it finished its install..So now what do I do!!! I do have Trend and SUPERAntispyware but was going to try the Avira...ggrr...now I am afraid to try to install Hijack this since I think I deleted it before too....Anyways here are the errors...let me know what you all think... Thank you Ciao~~ Errors.zip Errors.zip
  4. I have deleted it and uninstalled it...this was right before a bad infection...now cannot reinstall get errors and regsvr32 says cannot run this program in DOS mode. Installer utlity? no...used a Malwarebytes removal tool...........
  5. Thank you GT500...I will get to this this evening or first thing in the morning!! Ciao~~
  6. Did a restore...furthest point back was the 21st of march. still no change. Anyone else have any ideas? This seems to be a BIG mystery and apparently I am not the only one in general with these errors.
  7. Not sure if I can will have to look at my restore points. But it is not just the two errors. It is also the question of why does it pull up the C: Prompt window and says this program cannot be run in DOS mode. And it is not just MBAM, even just a visual basic file or using enhanced C: Prompt and a command line of regsvr32 will give the same error and sounds. It has to be some setting with the registry....
  8. Well thanks for the tip all....anyone have anything to help aide my current problem though?
  9. Am I allowed to post in here? If not I will start a new topic. Please let me know before I post. Thanks
  10. I forgot to tell you my system....duh sorry.... I have HP Pavillion Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 AMD Turion 64 mobile MK-36 2.00GHz Processor 1.00 GB Ram 32-bit OS
  11. Ok Here it be peeps...I previously had malwarebytes on my system and I deleted it due to non use. This was back about 3 weeks ago. WELL wouldnt you know it I got infected and needed it and bam!!! could not finish an install due to the following things: The error 440 and error 0 and also when installing it opens a C: prompt window and beeps each time after it enters text (3times it does this) and it read This program cannot be run in DOS Mode. The top of the window reads regsvr32. NOW here is ALL that I have done.... Used the mbam cleaner Checked all files and folders and registry to delete ANY corresponding folders to the program Went thru the C: prompt to make sure that my account (since it is my personal laptop) was real admin account It wasnt so thru the C: prompt I reset the NET USER ADMINISTRATOR and turned it to yes for active (didnt help) I have restarted my computer in safe mode, turned off all antivirus and spyware and firewall and internet AND UAC and tried install (didnt work) Went into the new administrator account that it made when I activated NEW USER ADMINISTRATOR (doesnt work there either) Used Advanced System Care3 (recommended by HP Help Chat) found like 5k+ registry errors...they thought it would fix it and install would work (didnt work) Used your help forum and installed Windows Installer 4.5 Redistriutable (no difference) Used your help forum and installed rootrepeal and I cannot use it cause in per the instructions it says .sys files are the ones to look it (at least that is how I understood it) and like most of my files in system32 are .sys files and are valid files.... SO someone please....help me...I just want to install it...thats all really....been working on this for almost 10 days now....it has now become a personal life mission it has me so flustered!!! Here is something that I came across however.....I noticed that in my winsxs folder where my SP1 stuff I believe is, there are visualbasic folders in there and each one has one Microsoft.VisualBasic.Vsa.dll in it. If I click on the .dll file in the folder I GET THE EXACT SAME ERROR IN THE C: PROMPT AS WHEN I TRY TO INSTALL Malwarebytes. SO COULD THIS BE MY PROBLEM? A possible bad SP1 install? To whoever solves this know that you are my SAINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks all Ciao~~
