  1. The third from the bottom in the search list shows the date and time of the attack: 10/31/15, 3:57pm.
  2. I attached one of the files to the above Reply, but it didn't appear. I'll try again: Addition.txt
  3. Thank you. Oh, I see -- I did opten the Post Options, but I didn't scroll down. The Attach material is below my screen level.
  4. In another thread, I just started to post a question about hot to attach files when I saw the Attach options at the bottom. But I don't see those options here. Can you help me proceed with this?
  5. I see there's another GWXUX has stopped working message on my laptop screen. I'm almost sure those continuous messages preceded the attack.
  6. I ran the FRST scan on my laptop, and I see the two files. Please tell me how to get attached files here. (this is embarrassing . . .)
  7. How can I get it onto a flash drive, if that's what you mean? It doesn't ask me where to install it, and it seems to launch right into a scan of this desktop.
  8. I'm typing this on my desktop. It is my laptop that is infected, and I cannot access the Internet on it.
  9. 4 yr old Qosmio laptop, Windows 7, Microsoft Security Essentials On 10/31, working on a downloaded Lesson file in Dreamweaver in conjunction with the associated video, I received a notice that I needed to something like "update video" - I probably clicked the corner X. Then MSE blasted in red, Severe threat! - I did a scan and two items were listed; I deleted them. I'm not sure of the exact sequence, but shortly, I could not open Firefox, IE, my free version of Malwarebytes or MSE. I deleted suspicious folders and files and removed programs in the Control Panel, such as RinoReader and something like VideoCinema. A couple of times, a rogue browser roared open. When I click on All Programs I saw DNSproxyserver or proxybrowser at the top but didn't delete it because I don't know if it's good or bad. Secondary concern: I copied my huge document folder (wpd, txt, doc in that order with many graphics) from the infected laptop onto a flash drive, pasted it into my new desktop (8.1 upgraded to 10), and deleted it from the infected laptop. Fearing this could have infected my desktop, I purchased Malwarebytes Premium, installed it, and ran a scan which showed no threats. However, the next day I discovered that Malwarebytes Premium is not working as to real-time coverage or scheduled scans, and I don't know if this is related or not related to the laptop virus. I know it probably wasn't a smart thing to do, but a comment as to how likely it is to have cross-infected would be be appreciated. Hereafter, I'll be briefer.
  10. This is exactly what I have on my laptop with Windows 7 which I wrote about in a Malwarebytes and Windows 10 thread this morning, Please direct me to further comments if there are any,
  11. For the DESKTOP, if rebooting the computer does not resolve the issue, I suggest that you might want to try a clean reinstall first: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x I've read most of that page. As I said at the outset, I'm exhausted by all this. It may not have been possible to prevent the attack on my laptop--a stronger program than MSE might have blocked it. . . But I didn't expect that purchasing Malwarebytes would only add to my stress. I can't deal with the MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x. I should have never messed with the laptop after it became infected, but immediately taken it to a professional -- this online trial and error method is past bearing. One expects a new product to work right. That sounds like a fair statement to me.
  12. Before I do a reinstall, I would like to know if it could simply be Defender that is causing Malwarebytes to not defend as well.
  13. I enabled the two malware detection choices. Nothing changed. I clicked on Restore Default Settings. I rebooted. I opened Malwayrebytes, and it still says Unprotected. The two Disabled buttons were again selected. Maybe they are the Recommended settings?
  14. 2.2.0.1024 License Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium Database Version v2015.11.06.02 Next scheduled scan: 11/7/2015 2:17 AM Real-Time Protection No protection Detection and Protection Recommended Settings Malware Protection Disabled Malicious Website Protection Disabled Should those not be Enabled? I didn't look at these settings yesterday when I installed the program.
  15. After two hours of unsuccessful attempts to log in to this forum, let me first tell you I'm exhausted from the last 5 days. The prospect of having to reinstall a product that I just installed yesterday, Malwarebytes Premium, discourages me. I'm typing this on my almost new Windows 10 (upgraded from original 8.1) desktop, which is protected by Defender. Five days ago my Windows 7 laptop became infected with the "DNSAPI.dll is missing" Trojan and RinoReader, and some video-related folders seem to be involved; I have no access to Internet on the laptop, and yesterday the sound was absent. I had only Microsoft Security Essentials on the laptop--MSE is part of the Trojan event; I read forum threads about it last night. Because I did copy and paste documents from the laptop onto a flash drive and then paste them into this desktop, I became anxious and decided to install Malwarebytes Premium (on my previous computers, I had used the free version) onto the desktop, in addition to the already present Defender. Primary problem: Malwarebytes manual scans yesterday (both hard drive and flash drives) and today on this desktop show no threats. However, when I open Malwarebytes Premium today, it says I'm not protected. Secondary problem: My infected laptop is my first experience with malware, and I fear somehow carrying the virus over to my my desktop. I removed suspicious programs and suspicious folders and files and did two scans with Kaspersky on a flash drive; the first scan showed two threats, which I "neutralized" and think I deleted (unclear process); the second scan showed no threats, even though the laptop was still compromised. I have an appointment tomorrow morning at Staples for a $159 malware removal (they use Malwarebytes Pro) (Best Buy charges $199 and you have to leave the computer there for 3 or 4 days.
  16. My problem is solved, with the help of Windows Security Support. This forum was a waste of time.
  17. I posted my original problem under the title BNK.Win32.Keylogger.gen I was now able to do a Malwarebytes QuickScan and Remove 11 infected files. After rebooting, I find that my applications all have to start from "Open With". I can't reinstall Windows Security Essentials or Firefox. They download, I double-click, I'm asked, "Do you want to run this?" C://Documents and Settings/Owner/MyDocuments And when I click Run, it says the Application is not found. Shouldn't the Install be going into Program Files? Please help.
  18. I have been trying to follow the directions on this page: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=100844 I'm not able to get to websites on my infected desktop computer. I'm working on my not-networked laptop, with a USB flash drive. I have downloaded and updated malwarebytes to my flash drive. I changed the .exe to .com and tried to launch, but I only get the message that malwarebytes has been updated and it will now Close and ??? (I've forgotten the word -- install?). Nothing happens. Nothing happens if I double click mbam.com on the flash drive or on the Backup drive or C-drive on the infected desktop computer. I don't know if the mbam.com file is in the right directory in any of the three places, or if that matters. I have not seen the Eyeveg.f window again: http://www.sophos.com/en-us/threat-center/threat-analyses/viruses-and-spyware/W32~Eyeveg-F/detailed-analysis.aspx Please advise how I can execute the XP 2012 security removal instructions.
  19. This is my first post and my first malware incident. I'm typing this on my unaffected Windows 7 laptop. My XP SP3 desktop was infected today with the BNK trojan listed above. Later I saw a small window showing something about Eyeveg.f I cannot open any web page, including Malwarebytes. I just put a copy of Malwarebytes onto a Flash drive and wondered if there was any chance that I could somehow get that to do a scan of my C drive. My desktop has no important financial information on it, so that's not my primary concern. I'm alone, not confident, and cowardly -- starting with the simplest suggestion, what can I do to get rid of the XP 2012 warnings? How can I get Malwarebytes to work? I can't find Microsoft Security Essentials, which is the antivirus program that I have on the desktop?
