daledoc1 Posted September 2, 2011 ID:471762 Share Posted September 2, 2011 Hello, MrsCats:As you probably know each MBAM license is good for a lifetime, but can only be used on 1 computer at a time. So, you will need to move the license from the old one to the new one by uninstalling on the old computer before you activate/register MBAM on the new one.(If you plan to run MBAM PRO on both rigs, then you will need to buy a second license for the new computer.)Assuming you are planning to use the 1 license only on the 1, new computer, here is what to do: Be sure to have your license ID and key handy first - it will be in the confirmation email from Cleverbridge when you purchased MBAM PRO, and it's a good idea to write it down somewhere for safe-keeping, too. OLD COMPUTER: Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here. It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so (very important!). NEW COMPUTER: temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here. Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license ID & key you were sent via email, if you are using the PRO version. Launch MBAM and set the Protection and Registration using the same License and Key from the old computer from which you uninstalled MBAM. Then go to the UPDATE tab (if not done during installation) and check for updates. Restart the computer and verify that MBAM is in the task tray (if using the PRO version). Now set up any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications, and then restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQs here, or ask and we'll explain how to do it.Please post back and let us know how it goes,daledoc1
MrsCats Posted September 2, 2011 Author ID:471791 Share Posted September 2, 2011 The reason I got a new computer is because the old one completely died......meaning it will NOT turn on at all. So I can't uninstall the MBAM from the old computer. My son is eventually coming over and is going to remove the hard drive from the old computer and try to recover my files. But I do not know when that will be.Thank you
daledoc1 Posted September 2, 2011 ID:471800 Share Posted September 2, 2011 Hello, MrsCats:Thanks for the update.Sorry I did not understand from your original post that the old computer had died.I think the best thing to do would be to contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org or here.If you explain the situation, I'm pretty sure they can help to sort it out. When you contact them, it would be most helpful if you could provide them with your license ID and key; this information would be in an email that was sent to you at the time of purchase from Cleverbridge (assuming that is where you bought your MBAM PRO license).Perhaps you have a printed copy of that email or perhaps you recorded the license info on another "paper" document? In the interim, you can certainly install MBAM on the new computer from the instructions I provided earlier, and activate the 14-day trial of the PRO version. That will give you the full protection of MBAM PRO for 14 days, while you sort out the license issue with support. Please let us know how things go,daledoc1PS: Please use the button instead of other ones when you reply here and at the other forums, so that it will be easier to read.
