New User Question

#1) i am a 'Malware Bytes' free-ware user and would like to buy a license so that i don't have to remember to run a manual update of definitions all the time... Even though it would be nice to have 'auto-update'i wud like to make sure that it does 'not' slow down my pc because it can perform more monitoring settings, as in auto-updates for example)?

#2) i play Farmville/Frontierville so i have two browsers that i choose from when one of the browser/games is performing slowly or abnormally - i delete 'Temporary Internet Files' then close and switch browsers... (MS-IE9 and Google Chrome). Does this program allow you to be able to setup these two browsers to be monitoring malware on both - or do i need to reset your program settings each time i switch browsers?

I am a novice so please be specific on any advice... Thank you so much for your time, Sue Hart

Hello Susan,

Let's see if I can get both your questions answered for you.

1.

We have a new Version of MBAM out that currently offers our PRO version for free as a 14 day trial. (you can upgrade to the PRO version at any time during this free trial.)

To download get the latest version installed with the smallest chance to encounter an error. Please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

After you start the trial, you can then notice if there is a slowdown in your PC's response.

2.

As for the browser you are using MBAM's IP blocking does not use which browser you are using to connect to a potential malicious IP address. If your system attempts to connect to a harmful site MBAM will block that site from connecting to you and display a balloon notification that it has done so.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. :)

Thank you.
