Greetings Richard, and welcome. For an answer about your antivirus, please see this post: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=8068 It explains a lot. You can see from my signature that I use a layered approach to security, and I haven't had a single infection of any kind in about 2 years. This is partly due to my protection, but also partly due to my habits, I don't use filesharing programs like bittorrent or limewire, I don't open emails from people I don't know, I don't open forwarded emails from people I do know, I don't use myspace or facebook and I don't use any of the typical instant messanger clients like live or aim. I don't visit porn sites, warez sites, or go looking for keygens, I keep all of my software and drivers up to date, and remove old versions of software before doing so (like java). The truth of the matter is, no one product, free or expensive can ever detect all of the active threats out there on any given day, there's just too much of it because it's a business now that viruses, trojans and other malware are being used for identity theft and to create botnets. So I go with the layered approach to security to have a better chance of catching any malware that may try to infiltrate my system. All that being said, Malwarebytes' antimalware is of a rare breed with very few true competitors when it comes to bridging the gaps that are left by your typical antivirus software. Not only that, but it is also excellent at removing many of the most difficult to remove infections out there that used to require professional assistance and specialized home-grown tools to remove. And if you do run into something Malwarebytes' won't remove, whether you've purchased a license or simply use the free version, the forum here is available so you can post your logs in the HijackThis area of the forum and get professional assistance from the volunteer experts here who will walk you through getting your system completely cleaned up step by step. It's an excellent service, but it serves Malwarebytes' as well because if there's something Malwarebytes' can't remove but should, it gets analyzed and then added to the definitions of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware which improves the software, and thus it's reputation as a product and of course the experience for the users en-mass. I hope I have explained it to your satisfaction, if you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Good luck and safe surfing.
