Marion Posted August 2, 2010 ID:294457 Share Posted August 2, 2010 Hi All, I am brand new to this forum so I don't know if this question has been asked before. When I try to update my Malawarebytes, it will not update and I get an error message. It says:MBAM_ERROR_updating(12029,0,WinHttpSendRequest). Does anyone have any idea what I should do? Thanks so much.

noknojon Posted August 4, 2010 ID:295669 Share Posted August 4, 2010 Hi again Marion -Post #2 should have cured this , so try for a clean copy of the program using this method -To Fully Remove and Reinstall a Fresh New Copy of Malwarebytes - Read CarefullyWindows XP:Click on Start and select Control PanelOpen Add/Remove ProgramsUninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareRestart your computer very important !Download and run mbam-clean.exe from hereIt will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so, very importantAfter the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from hereNote: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version only -Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it.
Marion Posted August 5, 2010 Author ID:295729 Share Posted August 5, 2010 A very knowledgeable friend who does remote assistance a lot was helping me last night and she asked how I uninstalled the program, I told her through add/remove. She said we should use Revo and so took the program off there and then reinstalled it. We did use the install that I had downloaded a few days ago. Today I told her that I had done all that you suggested with no luck. Maybe in a day or two I will try it again. The program does work as far as scanning the computer, I used it today. It just won't update. I do thank you very much for your help. We will get this working one of these days.
noknojon Posted August 5, 2010 ID:295751 Share Posted August 5, 2010 Hi -The reasons for not just using Revo are several - First you need to make sure it is fully out of the programs list with Add/Remove -Next the mbam-clean.exe program is required to remove other traces - The reboot between each stage is also required to ensure it has 'taken' -Then the reinstall without your Antivirus/Firewall blocking any items to get the first update is important also - The older version (that was the one removed) is never the one that should be reinstalled (hence the mbam-clean.exe) program -I have worked with Remote Repairers prior to this (using CrossLoop and other programs) and also had success, however if it can be done by you it is better -Just my observations - I hope you and your friend can fix it - If not please post back -Thank You -
