computer freezes with MB protection enabled

My computer freezes up on startup with MB protection enabled. I am running Eset NOD32 antivirus. I made exceptions in NOD32 for MB as another post instructed. I changed the registry for MB to start up 60 seconds later as also instructed in another post. The problem persists so I can't enable MB on startup which means I have to do it manually and forget half the time. Now what?
