Trojan.Win32.Obfuscated.gx

Recommended Posts

Hey, just signed up for the boards a few minutes ago, so if I'm posting in the wrong place or doing something wrong, feel free to let me know. Anyways, whenever I open a web page I get a message reading:

"Your computer was infected with Trojan.Win32.Obfuscated.gx. It's dangerous for your system, some files can be lost and your browser can be slow! Click OK to download the antispyware program to clean your computer! (Recommended)"

It takes me to some fake software site, so on and so forth. I'm not real tech savvy, but I just got HijackThis and am posting the log in here. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PS I'm sure there are all kinds of miscellaneous goodies (aka adware, spyware, trojans, etc) lurking on my comp.

  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.

Hi

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri), saving to your desktop.

Extract the contents of SmitFraudFix.exe to your desktop.

Open the SmitFraudFix folder on your desktop and double-click SmitfraudFix.cmd.

Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).

Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm

Next, download ComboFix by sUBs from here or here

**Save it to your desktop**

Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please save that log to post in your next reply along with a fresh HJT log

Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Thanks,

jpshortstuff
