Legacy Premium non-support?

Mac OS Catalina Version 10.15.4, Safari 13.1 on MacBook Air. Malwarebytes paid premium license thru 8/24/2020. Have rec'd messages advising contact Malware developer, legacy software not supported, something to do with file extensions. True, please? Bought it at suggestion of Apple Genius for older MacBook Pro, now replaced by this one. Can't locate these messages to show you. Today's message differed from those that preceded it. Made it sound as though Malware protection is no longer able to protect this MacBook. Can you explain, please? Asked AppleCare on phone a couple weeks ago. Was told they could not help me since this product is 3rd party. Not tech fluent myself. How do I proceed?
