I am hopeful someone can see something I seem to have picked up. My problem did not start immediately after I downloaded and installed Bodog. It happened well after, so I am sure that is not the issue, but you never know...

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.

When VundoFix re-opens,click the "Scan for Vundo" button.

Once it's done scanning, click the "Remove Vundo" button.

You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click "YES".

Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.

When completed,it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click "OK".

Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt into your next reply, along with a new Hijackthis log. Please also describe what all of your symptoms are.

Note:

It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.

In this case,VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Still Hijacked...

your link did not work so I had to find the program. It was hard as I am hijacked! Found it, ran it, and it found no files (ran twice). Thank you for help though.

So, please help me as this is really annoying.

Symptons are a pop up mesage lower right that says Symantec has blocked downloader as a security risk and that my computer is safe now. Any search engine I use I get returns for shopping sites and other search engines until I see anything related to my actual search.

The link works fine for me, a download box pops up and you save the file as in the instructions. I need to see the log from the program. Are you sure you followed the instructions? If Symantec is interfering with the Vundo fix turn it off.

Run HJT again and put a check in these items:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =

But I still need the Vundo log.

I checked those lines in Hijack This but 2 of them automatically come back and cannot be deleted. the customizesearch and linksfoldername line keep coming back each time I run HijackThis.

I ran Vundo 3 times now. No changes. Is this the log you wanted to look at?

Your running two antivirus programs. Not a good thing. You need to choose either the McAfee or the Symantec. You can keep them both installed but you can't run them at the same time.

Run HJT again with all programs and browsers closed, put a check next to these items:

O13 - Gopher Prefix:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: vtusppm - C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\vtusppm.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winyvc32 - C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\winyvc32.dll

Reboot and then,

Please get these programs, update and run a complete scan removing all items found.

Spybot Search & Destroy Be sure to immunize with this program also.

AVG AntiSpyware

Then go here and run a scan PandaActive Scan

Post the logs from the Panda and AVG scans please, along with a log from HJT. They will be long and it's fine to post the AVG log then run the Panda scan and post it and the HJT.

I will analyse the logs and give you further instructions. Be patient and persistant. These things can take time and many procedures.
