Home? Business? What's the difference?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have some pre-sales questions about the following softwares:

  • Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
  • Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit

For both softwares I see that there are two versions available: home and business. What is the difference? I am looking for the best level of protection.

Second question is about anti-virus. What software do you suggest me? Keep in mind that I don't care if it's paid or free. I am just focusing on security. Is Avast a good choice?

Thank you for your time.

Hello and :welcome:, @Volcom:

It appears that your post was inadvertently overlooked.

Simply put, according to the EULA and according to this KB article HERE, the Consumer/Home versions of MBAM and MBAE are for home users on their personal computers.

The Business versions are specifically designed and supported for use on Business/Government/Enterprise/Educational systems in those environments.

The Consumer versions of MBAM and MBAE are the most robust products offered for the home computer environment -- those are ones you would choose for your home systems.
Licenses are subscription-based and each license may be activated on only one system at a time (but is transferable)>

As for the Malwarebytes online store, you ought to be able to purchase MBAM and MBAE at the same transaction.

Notes:

  • There is a small discount for multiple licenses purchased at the same transaction (the screen shots shows an example with 2 of each license, but the limit is 10 for a single transaction).
    • (Ignore the price shown in the attached screenshot -- the actual total cost for multiple licenses is recalculated at the time the actual purchase is submitted.)
  • There is also a 2-year subscription option, to help protect against possible future price hikes.

Please let us know if you need more help.

Thank you,

That is a common question with no "best" or "right" answer that suits all computers, all users and all budgets.:)

MBAM and MBAE are designed to run alongside all of the major, popular AVs, both free and paid.  There are many fine choices.
This recent post explains some of the options in more detail, as does this pinned topic by our forum Root Admin, @AdvancedSetup.

Please let us know if you need more help.

Thank you,
