How to remove unregistered devices

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We are experiencing a problem where we have to deal with a very large number of unregistered clients, the current count is 406, it was at 383 last week.  Most of these are servers and a large number are old laptops that are no longer in use.  It has been passed the 30 days we have set for cleanup of old devices and could be an issue with AD but I do not have the ability to access that.  Is there any kind of manual way built into the management console to allow for removal of these devices?

Thank you in advance for any help

Hey Greebz345,

Since these are clients in AD, you may need to do a complete re-sync of the added OU. You can remove and re-add the OU groups to remove any unregistered objects that are staying behind. By doing this it does a full query of the added OU groups again. The clients that are online and checking in will slowly fall back into their own groups.

If they do show up after doing this, it could be that the entry is still found in AD somewhere and our program is finding it. If it does not exists after checking that, then let me know and we can have you grab some logs to troubleshoot the issue!

Thank you,

Thank you for the response Ron,

As a follow up question, is there a way to sync with AD from only one OU and under?  We would like to get rid of all the servers that show up and only have computers syncing with the management console since a large number of the unregistered devices are servers.

So basically can we run the sync off of the Computers OU instead of the entire AD?

Thank you
