Unable to run mbam setup, mbam clean, mbar

Recommended Posts

Hi. Have been unable to run mbam set up. Have tried many things, including a reinstall, then Chameleon. Unable to run using Chameleon - can't get any of the 13 options to work. Also unable to run mbam clean or mbar after downloading these programs.

Before downloading Malwarebytes Anti-Malware I had a few recent instances of BSOD, otherwise computer has usually been running ok. Thought I may have picked up a virus, which is why I downloaded Malwarebytes (free version).

Have attached FRST and Addition logs. Hope you can help.

Hello and welcome,

P2P/Piracy Warning:

If you're using Peer 2 Peer software such as uTorrent, BitTorrent or similar you must either fully uninstall them or completely disable them from running while being assisted here.Failure to remove or disable such software will result in your topic being closed and no further assistance being provided. If you have illegal/cracked software, cracks, keygens etc. on the system, please remove or uninstall them now and read the policy on Piracy.

Why did you run FRST with your system in Safe mode, any specific reason.... Boot back to normal mode and run FRST as follows.

Run FRST one more time, ensure all boxes are checkmarked under "Whitelist" but only Addition.txt under "Optional scan" Select scan, when done post the two logs....

Next,

Zip up and attach the following folder:

C:\Windows\Minidump

Next,

Download TDSSKiller and save it to your Desktop.

Make sure TDSSKiller.exe  is on the Desktop itself, not within a folder on the desktop.

Go to Start > Run (Or you can hold down your Windows key and press R) and copy and paste the following into the text field. (make sure you include the quote marks) Then press OK.

"%userprofile%\Desktop\TDSSKiller.exe" -l C:\TDSSKiller.txt

If it says "Hidden service detected" DO NOT type anything in. Just press Enter on your keyboard to not do anything to the file.
If Malicious objects are found, do NOT select Delete or Cure. Change the action to Skip, When it is done, a log file should be created on your C: drive called "TDSSKiller.txt" please copy and paste the contents of that file here.

Thanks,

Kevin..

Thanks for your quick reply.

I was in Safe Mode trying different things without having a possible BSOD issue.

Have attached FRST and Addition logs from normal mode scan.

I'm unable to zip the Minidump folder (1.09 MB) as the permissions for the Vista files within the folder are 'Read Only' and can't be changed.

Have downloaded TDSSKiller to the Desktop but will wait for your advice on the Minidump folder before creating the log under TDSSKiller.

Run the following, when complete try TDSSkiller again....

Download RKill from here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/

There are three buttons to choose from with different names on, select the first one and save it to your desktop.

Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.

If using Vista or Windows 7/8, right-click on it and Run As Administrator.

A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.

A log pops up at the end of the run. This log file is located at C:\rkill.log. Please post this in your next reply.

If you do not see the black box flash on the screen delete the icon from the desktop and go back to the link for the download, select the next button and try to run the tool again, continue to repeat this process using the remaining buttons until the tool runs. You will find further links if you scroll down the page with other names, try them one at a time.

If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.

Thanks,

Kevin

Download Combofix from either of the following links:

Link 1
Link 2

Before you save it to the Desktop Make sure to rename it to sega.com

Click Start --> Run, or select the Windos key and R key together then type this command exactly as shown or use copy/paste:

"%userprofile%\desktop\sega.com" /killall Tap enter or select OK.

See if it will run successfully now. Stop it after half an hour of no activity.

Post the log in next reply,

Kevin

Have downloaded from Link 2 but had no option to save it under another name. I renamed the file after installing (saved in 'downloads' folder) and created a shortcut to the desktop but Run wasn't able to find the file.

Do not save the file anywhere else but to the Desktop or the command does not work......

Change the download folder setting in the default Browser so all tools we may use are saved to the Desktop:

Chrome.JPGGoogle Chrome - Click the "Customize and control Google Chrome" button in the upper right-corner of the browser. Settings.JPG

Choose Settings. at the bottom of the screen click the

"Show advanced settings..." link. Scroll down to find the Downloads section and click the Change... button. Select your desktop and click OK.

Firefox.JPGMozilla Firefox - Click the "Open Menu" button in the upper right-corner of the browser. Settings.JPG Choose Options. In the downloads section, click the Browse button, click on the Desktop folder and the click the "Select Folder" button. Click OK to get out of the Options menu.

IE.jpgInternet Explorer - Click the Tools menu in the upper right-corner of the browser. Tools.JPG Select View downloads. Select the Options link in the lower left of the window. Click Browse and select the Desktop and then choose the Select Folder button. Click OK to get out of the download options screen and then click Close to get out of the View Downloads screen.

NOTE: IE8 Does not support changing download locations in this manner. You will need to download the tool(s) to the default folder, usually Downloads, then copy them to the desktop.

Please download this program Blue Screen Viewer  and unzip "Bluescreen View.exe" to your desktop.

Double click on Bluescreen Viewer to run it, if there is any info available the program will grab the most recent. Choose save from the Toolbar and copy paste to your next reply. If there is no information available try and re-create the BSOD and try again with the tool to collect the information.

Thanks....

Go start > all programs > accessories > right click command prompt and select "Run as Administartor" accept any alerts.

Type this at the prompt chkdsk /r and tap <Enter>.

Note the space between the chkdsk and the /r .  You will get a message that the drive cannot be locked, but that the command can be scheduled to run at the next boot.  Type Y and then tap <Enter> again.  You will get a message that chkdsk has been scheduled to run on the next boot.  Then reboot.

chkdsk will run during the boot, and it will take quite a bit of time, particularly if your boot partition is large.  What the /r flag does is force chkdsk to run an expanded version of chkdsk that has 5 tests.  The last two will check the drive for file/folder/free space errors and also fix related MFT errors if there are any.

Instruction available here to get the log: http://www.vistax64.com/vista-performance-maintenance/177478-check-disk-log-location.html

Next,

Close all windows, Select > start icon > all programs > accessories > Right click on "command prompt" > select > Run as administrator > ok any alerts > at the command prompt type or copy and paste sfc /scannow > then tap enter. When finished type exit Tap enter, re-boot your PC.

***Note the space between sfc and /scannow.

To get report, open elevated command promt again. type or copy and paste:

findstr /c:"[sR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

Post those logs for me to see...

Thank you,

Kevin..
