I keep getting the same notificiation

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am new here. I appreciate any help.

Beginning yesterday, I keep getting the same notification that says malwarebytes blocked access to a potentially malicious website. It's the same website isp number each time.

I have never had this experience before. Repeated and often notifications always the same website.

I have run a full scan and restarted my computer but the notification is still appearing. Usually about every minute to a minute an a half. sometimes even more often.

Can anyone help or explain this to me?

Thank you!

George

Run RogueKiller again and click Scan

When the scan completes > click on the Registry tab

Put a check next to all of these and uncheck the rest: (if found)

[RUN][sUSP PATH] HKCU\[...]\Run : KB0041892 ("C:\Users\George\AppData\Local\KB0041892\KB0041892.exe" [-]) -> FOUND

[RUN][sUSP PATH] HKLM\[...]\Wow6432Node\[...]\Run : KB0041892 ("C:\Users\George\AppData\Local\KB0041892\KB0041892.exe" [-]) -> FOUND

Now click Delete on the right hand column under Options

-------------

Then...........

Download Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit from HERE

  • Unzip the contents to a folder in a convenient location.
  • Open the folder where the contents were unzipped and run mbar.exe
  • Follow the instructions in the wizard to update and allow the program to scan your computer for threats.
  • Click on the Cleanup button to remove any threats and reboot if prompted to do so.
  • Wait while the system shuts down and the cleanup process is performed.
  • Perform another scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit to verify that no threats remain. If they do, then click Cleanup once more and repeat the process.
  • When done, please post the two logs produced they will be in the MBAR folder..... mbar-log.txt and system-log.txt

Note:

If no additional threats were found, verify that your system is now running normally, making sure that the following items are functional:

Internet access

Windows Update

Windows Firewall

If there are additional problems with your system, such as any of those listed above or other system issues, then run the fixdamage tool included with Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit and reboot. It's located in the Plugins folder which is in the MBAR folder.

Just run fixdamage.exe.

Verify that they are now functioning normally.

Well, I did all that you said. I ran the anti-root kit and it said there was nothing wrong, nothing to clean up. Then I ran "Fix damage" and it completed and said to exit. Didn't say if there were any problems.

The bad news is that I am still getting the same "successfully blocked access to a Potentially malicious website" message from Malwarebytes and it's from the same IP number which is always 94.242.214.242  It's always this one. It pops up about every 60 seconds or so.

I have not restarted my system so I don't know if that will help or not. I really appreciate your help. Any further suggestions? Thanks again.........

Next:

Please download and run ComboFix.

The most important things to remember when running it is to disable all your malware programs and run Combofix from your desktop.

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please make sure you click download buttons that look similar to this, not "sponsored ad links":

bleep-crop.jpg

Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Information on disabling your malware programs can be found Here.

Make sure you run ComboFix from your desktop.

Give it at least 30-45 minutes to finish if needed.

Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.

---------->NOTE<----------

If you get the message Illegal operation attempted on registry key that has been marked for deletion after you run ComboFix....please reboot the computer, this should resolve the problem. You may have to do this several times if needed.

Ok, I'll give it a try. Thanks again.

Something interesting just happened. I decided to put that IP number on the "ignore" list and suddenly another IP showed up! I put that one also on the ignore list and now it's been a few minutes and nothing so far. Of course that means I'm just not seeing them I guess.

Thanks, I'll report back. You are very kind to help out like this. Much appreciate.

MrC, I reran rouguekiller and those 2 files that you told me to delete showed up again. Maybe I didn't delete them correctly or something but in any casae......the computer seems to be working fine again, no more of those annoying notifications from Malwarebytes that were coming from the same websites and constantly.

I'll keep an eye out but I wanted to thank you again for helping me out. I really appreciate. Have a good day!..... :)
